Most times you never know what to write or how to start in these situations. With this one, it's easy. As I have gotten older, I have felt life has become harder for me. Then you pay attention to those close to you and realize what they're really struggling with. It can be the most helpless feeling in the world. That's why I'm writing this. To help someone near and dear to me, who us at the end of their rope and is out of fight. Chris is one of the best humans I have been lucky enough to call my friend. Chris is an Army Vet; he served his country honorably. He is a certified dog whisperer; pretty sure he loves dogs more than humans. He's a huge Phoenix Suns fan. He loves to travel with his wife and hang out with friends. All that suddenly changed when he became so incredibly ill that it was paralyzing, causing him to lose his job and ultimately never work again. After many years of fighting with the VA, he was diagnosed with Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome. Chris has tried to get the necessary care through the VA and unfortunately they are failing him. The VA has denied more referrals than we can count and most of the time, appointments are months or even a year out. Recently it came to light that there was a doctor at the Mayo Clinic that could help Chris with his diagnosis. The VA has denied his ability to go to that facility several times.
I want my friend back. My best friend wants her husband back. He has no quality of life and is ready to let this syndrome beat him. So I am here asking for help to get Chris to the Mayo Clinic. Because the Mayo Clinic does not take insurance, the out-of-pocket cost is just under $1k per visit. We don't know how many visits he will need. Our goal of $10,000 will help pay for 10 visits and while that may not be enough, it's a start for him to get his life back. He deserves this.
If you're able to donate, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you. If you're not in a position to donate, please share.
Thank you for your support in helping Chris, an Army Vet, get his life back.
