Hello, my name is Amanda. I’m a mom to a 20‑month‑old son, and I’m sharing my story because I’m out of options and terrified of losing our home.
Earlier this year, I was working 12‑hour shifts at Amazon as a fulfillment center associate, often picking up extra shifts just to provide for my little boy. As a type 1 diabetic, I required accommodation breaks, but Amazon began using those breaks against me by deducting my unpaid time off (UPT) hours.
Then in March, I was hospitalized with a serious kidney infection that turned into sepsis, a life‑threatening condition. Despite doctor’s notes and my efforts to return, Amazon combined the time I took for my medical emergency and my diabetic breaks and terminated me. I currently have an active case against them for this unfair treatment.
Since losing my job, I have been fighting every single day to keep going for my son. I’ve sold baked goods, taken any odd job I can find, and applied for work daily. But the setbacks haven’t stopped:
- My storage unit with all our belongings was sold, including diabetic supplies and identity documents.
- My car was repossessed, leaving me without transportation.
- My phone was shut off, making it even harder to find work.
- Now, I am behind on rent and utilities and am facing the very real possibility of losing our home.
I’m not lazy, and I’m not someone who gives up, but the truth is that after so many losses, I cannot get out of this alone.
I am asking for donations to cover:
- $1,750 past‑due rent so we can keep a roof over our heads
- $1,000 PG&E bill so we don’t lose power
- $500 storage balance overdue after being sold to auction
- $700 urgent debt that’s keeping us further behind
- groceries and baby essentials like food, diapers, and wipes
- transportation costs so I can get to job interviews and side jobs without a car
Every single dollar will go directly to these urgent expenses, and I will post updates and receipts so you can see exactly how your kindness is helping us.
Through it all, my faith has been my strength. I hold on to God’s promise in Deuteronomy 31:6: “He will never leave you nor forsake you.” But I also know that sometimes we need to lean on others when life knocks us down.
If you are able to help, even the smallest gift makes a huge difference for me and my son. If you can’t donate, please share this fundraiser with others, that would mean the world to us.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Thank you for helping me fight to keep my home and rebuild for my baby boy. I will never forget your kindness.
With gratitude,
Amanda
