This page is dedicated to supporting Bradyn’s Battle with a rare form of cancer, his journey through his diagnosis with t-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia on 8/5/22 at the Jacksonville, FL Mayo Clinic when he was 22.  His journey continues throughout his treatment, relapse in 2024 and  haploidentical allogenic stem cell transplant performed on 1/2/25 at MD Anderson in Houston, TX.  Fundraising for Bradyn's Battle is in support of his move to Texas on 10/20/24 including transportation, lodging, medical bills, meals and lost wages during treatment and planned double hip replacements once cleared likely in Q4 2025 (any unused funds will be paid forward). Your generosity will provide peace of mind in alleviating any financial burden on Bradyn and his family during treatment and recovery. Thank you for listening to our story and supporting Bradyn's Battle. Positive vibes and virtual hugs only welcome on this page :)

Bradyn was released to go home to Florida and we finally made it after being gone for almost 6 months. On Day 96 the bell was rung at Halo House Foundation (actually so hard it broke!); we got the clonoSEQ biopsy results half way home during our drive and NO cancer cells were detected in his bone marrow🙏🏻 ♥️ We have to be back in Houston in a month or so for another biopsy and to start vaccinations. He is still at risk due to being immunocompromised, so prayers please that he stays healthy & out of the sun. For now we reintegrate and get settled back in to a new normal and wait for clearance to proceed with hip replacements, likely by end of 2025. God is GOOD ♥️ 🙌🏻 🙏🏻Prayers going out to all of those we left behind in Houston. Thank you again to all of your support during this long journey! Hugs & positive vibes always,

Day 88, 12 more days until Bradyn may be released to go home to Florida. We've had a fun weekend watching PSU make it to the final four and cheering on our friend #16.  It’s been almost 6 months since we’ve been home!  I’m extremely grateful for Bradyn's numbers that continue to improve, his amazing appetite and hopeful he will get MRD- biopsy results following his next bone marrow biopsy on 4/2. Through any cancer journey, your faith is constantly tested and you’re reminded how we are not in control of anything. Accepting that has been the hardest. No one understands unless you’ve been through it.  It will take time to adjust to our new normal.

Bradyn will still will be immunocompromised until fully vaccinated expected to be a year and the doctors will determine when it is safe for him to get his double hip replacement surgery, likely at 9 months.

I will always cherish this time in TX we’ve had together, all the things I’ve learned and opportunities to help others, the growth in my salvation and of course all the angels I’ve met along the way. It’s been both a healthy outlet and a pleasure to share our journey and let you bear witness to the incredible Grace God has poured over Bradyn.

I do want to recognize the families that have lost loved ones or are still in the depths of their dark valleys during their journey. You are not alone and never will be, be open to letting light shine in. Please pray for Mason, Victor, Branson, & Katie.

From a practical standpoint we still have a fair amount of things to figure out as far as what life is gonna look like when we get back home; ongoing healthcare, living situation and finding a new job given limitations. Going to keep taking it a day at a time and lean into our Faith. Thank you for your support and prayers, joining us in this journey.

Amazing news, Bradyn has hit some major milestones since transplant on 1/2/25. He was given outside/off the secure floor privileges for the first time since Christmas (he even got to enjoy the TX snow).  Bradyn was deemed "engrafted" on 1/17!  Engraftment refers to Alec’s donor stem cells successfully growing and producing healthy blood cells in Bradyn’s bone marrow. It signifies the transplant’s success, reducing risks of complications like graft failure or infections. Lots of love to ALEC!  Bradyn was discharged from the hospital yesterday! He lost 20 lbs over the month, but we are working hard to put back on that muscle. He is being monitored closely by the hospital now, but with God's grace he has moved mountains this past week and a half.  I'm a proud momma and we are both happy to breathe fresh air and get hot showers back at the Halo House Apartment. We know there is a long road ahead; staying in Houston for the next few months, but God is GOOD, Amen?!

Fyi I'm still working thru multi-platform restrictions, but hope you can enjoy this video of him thanking his nurses before leaving the hospital.  If you would like to request to be included in the private facebook group please include COE22 in your request since I don't know all of you personally, but I do hope to cross paths with each of you!  Love you all, hugs and positive vibes only.

Post-Christmas Update:

As with any journey there will always be bumps in the road (especially in Houston); on the morning of admission 12/10/24, Bradyn woke up w/ a fever which was determined to be a common cold virus resulting in slight bronchitis.  He was admitted for 3 days to expedite his healing, unfortunately his transplant date 12/20 had to be delayed.

As hard as I tried, the new clinical trial date did not work out due to the holidays/staffing at both MD Anderson and Orca Bio. Cancer does NOT wait for Christmas. So onward and upward! Due to the aggressiveness of his cancer Bradyn has decided to proceed with standard of care so as to not delay any further. Bradyn was admitted for day 1 of consolidation on Christmas day. He is currently finishing his 4th day of strong chemo where he needs to shower every 4 hours to prevent chemo burn on his skin. He is struggling with nausea, but still eating and walking laps. His brother/donor tested positive for RSV a few days ago but doing better, we are still waiting to hear from the team what this means for transplant date 1/2/25 (day 0). Given the change in protocol Alec will have to undergo surgery on 1/2 to harvest his stem cells. On another fun note I had to have an emergency appendectomy on Christmas eve, but doing well.  Thankful that Bradyn made me get it checked out at the ER, if I was at home I likely would've "sucked it up".  Is this a soap opera or reality, anyone's guess.  Hugs and positive vibes only,

~Heather

Last week Bradyn had a central venous catheter (CVC) installed in his chest and his port removed, so if you follow him on Insta https://www.instagram.com/bradynbarone?igsh=NGc3MmNzamIzbDVy&utm_source=qr  no more gym videos for awhile and I get to play nurse doing daily flushes.  He is currently in his 2nd week of outpatient chemo, he is managing it well and will be admitted to the hospital next Tuesday, 12/10 to start conditioning treatments; stem cell transplant is on track for 12/20.  Alec is traveling to Houston today and will begin preparations for stem cell harvesting on Monday.

Your support is enabling Bradyn to access the best possible care, giving us hope and the confidence needed to proceed with transplant. Once again, we cannot express enough gratitude for your generosity, prayers and random check-ins. At times this can be a very lonely journey, and being reminded that we are not alone brings me to tears.  We are so blessed to have such an incredible community standing with us.

God Bless & Hugs,

Heather (Bradyn & Alec's Mommy)
