Teddy is a Belgian Draft horse who found himself in a bad situation when he was dumped at an auction and purchased by a "kill buyer" in Texas.

Without help, he would load a truck to Mexico and never be seen again.

Fortunately, people from around the country stepped in to save him! He was bailed out of the kill pen by a generous donor and then taken to quarantine in TX.

After a month of QT, he was transported to his new home in CA.

Unfortunately, he was in much worse condition than anyone realized, and he needed to stay at the vet hospital for nearly two weeks.

Here's a breakdown of his medical bill from that stay...

When he arrived, he was infested with lice; he could hardly eat because his teeth were in terrible condition, he had open, infected wounds that needed cleaning, and he needed antibiotics. To make matters worse, his blood results showed he had EPM.

EPM is a serious disease, but it's treatable with time and the right medication. However, treatment is incredibly expensive.

In spite of the cost, I decided to fight for him and do everything possible to help him. After two weeks at the clinic, he had multiple medicated baths and was body clipped to mitigate the lice infestation. He had his teeth floated and wounds cleaned, as well as his first round of EPM treatment.

I'm SO grateful to say that he's on the up and up and responding well to everything! Now that his teeth don't hurt him, he can finally chew, and he's gaining weight!

However, to finish healing, he needs additional EPM treatments, and since I'm not a non-profit (yet), everything that's been done to help him this far has come out of my own pocket, and unfortunately, the care credit card I use to cover medical expenses for the horses just reached its max.

It was me or the meat truck, and I'm grateful I had the opportunity to help him, but at this point, Teddy needs others to help him, too.

If people can help me fund the rest of his EPM treament I'm confident he will heal well enough to retire in the 10 green acres of pasture that are calling his name.

Will you help me help him?

WITH continued treatment, he can regain his strength and balance and run and play in the green rolling hills behind him. But without it, he will still be loved and cared for, but he will have to stay contained in a flat 12x24  paddock for his own safety.

He's currently on Marquis, which was $1200, but now he also needs pellets, which are $900, and Totazuril, which is $244.

With these additional meds and the herbs and supplements that he's already on to support his recovery, Teddy can live his best life!

Will you help him have the retirement he deserves?

Every dollar makes a difference in helping this sweet Belgian draft spend the rest of his days in paradise!

Thank you!!!
