Hi everyone 🤍
My name is Lakota Friday, but many of you may know me as the “Trinket Lady” here in Quincy. I started the Trinket Trade Box with my boys as a simple way to spread a little joy in our community.
The idea was never about money—it was about connection. With how expensive things have become, I wanted to create something where people of all ages could still experience the excitement of getting something new without having to spend anything. Just take a trinket, leave a trinket, and maybe even share a smile along the way.
What started as a small idea has grown into something so much bigger than I ever expected. The box is visited daily, and it has truly become something special for so many people in our community. Kids get excited to stop by, families make it part of their routine, and it’s been amazing to watch strangers connect over something so simple.
Because of all the love and support, the box is now overflowing (which is the best problem to have 😅). But it also means we’ve outgrown the space we currently have.
That’s why I’m starting this fundraiser-
🌿 The Trinket Box & Community Trade Project 🌿
What started as a simple little trinket box has grown into something far bigger than I ever imagined.
The Trinket Box is a free community trade space where people of all ages can leave a trinket, take a trinket, share a smile, and spread a little joy. Over time, it has become a gathering place filled with kindness, creativity, memories, and connections between neighbors.
Today, the project includes much more than just a single trinket box. We are working toward creating an interactive community trade area filled with unique stations, themed exchanges, little libraries, lockers, mug exchanges, wishing trees, art displays, and other whimsical features that encourage people to explore, trade, and connect with one another.
Our vision is to create a magical “sidewalk joy” experience right here in our community—a place where everyone feels welcome and where small acts of kindness can make a big impact.
As the project continues to grow, so do its needs. This donation page helps support everything related to The Trinket Box project, including supplies, maintenance, building materials, exchange stations, decorations, future installations, and special community events.
Our biggest goal right now is obtaining a small shed or farm stand structure that can serve as a covered community trading space. This would allow us to expand the project, better organize donations and exchanges, protect items from the weather, and create an even more enjoyable experience for visitors.
This project has always been community-driven, and every donation, share, trade, volunteer hour, and word of encouragement helps make these dreams possible.
Thank you for being part of this journey and helping turn a simple trinket box into something truly special for our community. ❤️
Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward improving the box so we can keep this little piece of joy going strong. If you’re not able to donate, simply sharing this page means just as much to me.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who has supported this idea, visited the box, shared kind words, or contributed in any way. This has truly become something bigger than just a box—it’s a community.
With so much gratitude,
— The Trinket Lady 🤍
