My name is Sunny Day and I am raising money for the Miss American Organization, as a part of the Miss Oklahoma 2021 and Miss America 2021 competition. This year will be the 100th anniversary of Miss America - an organization that is dedicated to empowering, educating, and uplifting young women all across the nation.

Last February was my first time joining the Miss America Organization. Through my leap of faith I have found myself surrounded by incredible young women all across the US, continuously striving to be a better version of myself, and truly becoming the change I want to see in the world. MAO continues to provide me with the essential tools to be my most successful and impactful self.
I find my experience and time in this organization to be unique. With this being both my first and final time to compete for the title of Miss Oklahoma and potentially Miss America, I have taken everyday as Miss Oil Capital as the opportunity to create change, to educate my community, to advocate for children, and to inspire people to join this organization.
As the next hopeful Miss Oklahoma and Miss America, I have many plans and ambitions to be the change I want to see in the world.
I hope that you follow my journey and before doing so, here is the chance to learn a little bit about myself:
- I am a first generation high school AND college graduate, I graduated with my BA in Communications from The University of Oklahoma in 2017.
- Shortly after graduating college, I attended the Oklahoma Teacher Walkout in 2017. At the walkout, I saw change that needed to happen in both the state of Oklahoma and education which resulted in me having a change of heart and I immediately began the steps to become a certified teacher.
- I am on my third year teaching in Western Heights Public Schools where I serve as a 5th and 6th grade English Language Arts and English as Second Language teacher.
- I was named Next Gen Oklahoma’s 30 Under 30 in Education in 2020.
- I am a national ambassador for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America mentoring program.
- My mission is to travel the state of Oklahoma and give motivational presentations to students, have my lifeskill workshops adopted in classrooms all over the state, and take my plan for change to the Oklahoma State Capitol where I will push for education equity and reform.
I joined this organization in hopes to prove to adults and children all over the world who have ever thought that their uncontrollable circumstances were going to hinder their wildest dreams that they are worthy, they can break the cycle(s), and that they are the authors of their own narrative.
It is my goal to share my story and upbringing with the world, in hopes to inspire others to continue to strive for greatness and believe in themselves while doing so. It is my mission to show other women across the state and nation that the stigmas about Miss America are long gone and Miss America 2.0 wants nothing more but to prepare the world for great women and to prepare great women for the world.
Join me in my journey to the Miss Oklahoma -- and help by providing scholarship dollars for deserving young candidates nationwide by supporting the Miss America Foundation. Thank you for your support.
