On Friday night, our family suffered an unimaginable loss. Cody Gilbert — a devoted husband, loving father, and selfless attorney in the Oklahoma City area — passed away unexpectedly. Cody spent his life defending and helping people who had no one else to stand up for them. He gave his time, his talent, and his heart to those the world often overlooks.
Cody grew up in a working-class family and knew firsthand what it felt like to face hardship without special treatment or privilege. That experience shaped him into an advocate for the vulnerable. He dedicated his career to defending ordinary people who made mistakes, struggled, or simply needed a second chance. Cody always put others before himself.
Today, we are coming together to help the two people who meant the most to him: his wife, Lindsey, and their young son, Elliot.
Lindsey had left her job to care for their son, who has special needs and requires her full attention. Cody was the family’s only source of income. His passing leaves Lindsey not only heartbroken, but facing immediate financial pressure during the hardest moment of her life.
We are asking for help to cover:
-
Cody’s funeral expenses
-
Short-term living expenses for Lindsey and Elliot
-
A financial bridge to give Lindsey time to grieve, heal, and eventually re-enter the workforce
Cody gave so much of himself to others. Now, in honor of his compassion and his courage, we are asking the community to give back to the family he loved so dearly.
No contribution is too small. Every act of kindness makes a real difference.
From our entire family — thank you for your generosity, your prayers, and your support for Lindsey and Elliot during this heartbreaking time.
