Seven-year-old Hani lives in Gaza and has Down Syndrome, along with other intellectual and psychological disabilities that require daily care. Before the war, his family was already facing hardship, but the current situation has pushed them into extreme crisis. Hani needs essentials like diapers, milk, medical treatment, and consistent access to health care, none of which are available to him now. He and his father are currently displaced, living on the street with no shelter, no income, and no means of survival beyond the kindness of others.

Hani’s father, Alaa, is doing everything in his power to care for his son, but the siege on Gaza has made it impossible to find work or access aid. The roads are closed, the crossings are sealed, and families like theirs have been left to endure unimaginable suffering. Alaa has reached out in desperation; not for himself, but for his child, hoping that someone, somewhere, might have the heart and means to help. He shared that the images he’s able to send now are from before the war, because Hani’s current condition is too painful to show without warning.

Hani is suffering from the effects of famine. His body is weakening, and his needs are growing more urgent by the day. Alaa has said that the photos he will send soon show a stark contrast, images of a child whose body now bears the visible signs of severe malnutrition. It is every parent’s nightmare to watch their child suffer and not be able to ease their pain. Alaa is holding on for his son, doing his best in impossible circumstances, but he cannot do this alone.

This fundraiser has been created to help Hani’s family secure the basic necessities they need to survive. Your donation will go directly toward providing food, medical care, diapers, and emergency support for Hani. Every contribution, no matter the amount, makes a real difference. Your support could be the reason this child lives through the crisis and receives the care and dignity he deserves.

Please consider giving what you can. If you are unable to donate, sharing this campaign is just as powerful. It helps extend Hani’s story to someone who might be able to help. Together, we can bring hope, comfort, and life-saving support to a little boy and his father who have already endured far too much.

Hi Everyone

Hani is not doing well again.

He has not been able to access the fresh and special food that keeps him from being sick. He also needs diapers. They are using nylon on him now because regular diapers are out of reach monetarily and these cause him terrible rashes.

Hani deserves better.

He is a sweetheart of a child who doesn’t understand why this is happening to him. No child should have to endure this type of suffering. But this is an easy enough fix. He just needs help.

If you are able to help, it would be a real blessing for his family. Thank you for your compassion.

Dear friends,

I want to share an update about sweet Hani, the 8 year old boy in Gaza with Down syndrome. He has been hospitalized this past week due to a virus that is moving aggressively through the population.

Hani is still in the hospital, but the doctors believe he is going to be okay if very specific conditions can be met once he is released. Because Hani has a compromised immune system, his body needs extra protection and stability right now. The doctors have been very clear: he must maintain a clean, nourishing diet with fresh foods appropriate for his needs, and he must have diapers that do not aggravate his skin or compromise his health.

Right now in Gaza, many families have been forced to use nylon instead of diapers because there simply are no supplies. This is not safe for Hani. His body cannot tolerate it. Something as basic as proper diapers and clean food becomes a matter of survival when the immune system is fragile.

This virus has absolutely upended people across Gaza. Many have been left bed-bound for days. We were truly afraid we might lose him. We didn’t know if Hani was going to make it, and thankfully, he has. But surviving the hospital is only the first step. What happens after his release matters just as much.

I am asking, with humility and honesty, for those who have already helped if you might be able to help again, and for anyone new who feels called to step in. Your support goes directly toward securing proper diapers, fresh food, and the stability Hani needs to stay strong and continue healing.

Every share matters. Every donation matters. Every act of care ripples farther than you know. Hani deserves the chance to grow, to heal, and to feel safe in his little body in a world that has given him far too many challenges already.

Thank you for standing with him. Thank you for trusting me with his story. And thank you for continuing to show up when it matters most.

With deep gratitude,

Denise

🚨 URGENT: 6-Year-Old Hani Is in the Hospital - We're Running Out of Time

Hani was rushed to the hospital today. This precious 6-year-old boy with Down Syndrome is suffering from severe colon complications and dangerous bloating because the only food available to him is either canned or rotten—and his fragile digestive system cannot handle it.

This is what starvation looks like for a disabled child.

While I have permission to share the photos from the hospital, I won't violate Hani's dignity by posting images of his suffering. But please understand: this little boy is dying because he cannot access the specialized nutrition his body desperately needs.

Hani's father Alaa told me that **$50 per day** could provide the specialized nutrition Hani needs to survive. Fifty dollars a day. That's what many of us spend on coffee and lunch, yet it could save this child's life.

**Why is this so critical?**
- Children with Down Syndrome often have digestive issues that require careful nutrition
- The canned and spoiled food available in Gaza is making Hani violently ill
- His colon problems are becoming life-threatening
- Without proper nutrition, his already compromised immune system is failing
- His parents are eating once every 5 days so their children can have what little food exists

**The math is heartbreaking:** We need $350 per week to keep Hani alive. If 50 people donated just $7 each, we could cover an entire week of life-saving nutrition. If 35 people donated $10, we could provide what Hani needs for a full week.

Hani is not a statistic. He's a little boy who loves his family, who deserves to live, who needs specialized care that costs almost nothing by our standards but everything in his current reality.

His father is watching his disabled child deteriorate in a hospital, knowing that such a small amount of money could provide the nutrition that would help Hani's body heal—but that money might as well be a million dollars when you're displaced, starving, and have no income.

**Please, I'm begging you:**
- Donate even $1 if that's what you can spare
- Share this post - someone in your network might be able to help
- Tag friends who care about children with disabilities
- Don't scroll past thinking someone else will help

Hani doesn't have time for us to wait for "someone else" to step up. He's in the hospital RIGHT NOW, and every hour that passes without proper nutrition makes his condition worse.

This is our chance to prove that humanity still exists. That a disabled child's life matters. That $50 isn't too much to ask to save a little boy.

Please don't let Hani become another casualty when we have the power to help him right now.

Urgent Update: Hani's Family Faces Severe Starvation

We received heartbreaking news today from Alaa, Hani's father, about their current situation. The crisis has deepened beyond what we initially shared, and little Hani and his family are now facing life-threatening starvation.

The devastating reality: Alaa and his wife Mari are eating only once every five days, sharing dates or lentils when they can find them, so that their children, including six-year-old Hani, can have what little food is available. Between these scarce meals, they survive on water and salt alone. Despite their sacrifice, there simply isn't enough food to meet anyone's needs, especially not those of a child with Down Syndrome who requires specialized nutrition and care.

Hani's condition continues to deteriorate. As a child with intellectual and psychological disabilities who needs daily medical attention, proper nutrition, and consistent care, he is particularly vulnerable to the effects of malnutrition. His parents' heroic efforts to prioritize their children's survival cannot compensate for the severe shortage of basic necessities.

The family remains displaced and without shelter, income, or access to the medical care Hani desperately needs. The siege has made it impossible for Alaa to find work or secure aid through traditional channels. Every day that passes brings greater danger to this vulnerable child and his family.

Hani needs our help now more than ever. Your donations directly provide:

- Emergency food supplies for the entire family

- Essential medical care and medications for Hani

- Diapers and basic necessities

- Whatever emergency support becomes available

This is a race against time. A family is literally starving while doing everything possible to keep their disabled child alive. Every dollar contributed and every share of this campaign could be the difference between life and death for little Hani.

If you've already donated, please consider sharing this update. If you haven't yet been able to contribute, any amount—no matter how small—brings us closer to providing the emergency relief this family needs to survive.

Hani and his family cannot wait. Please help us reach them b

efore it's too late.
