Update: We were released on December 11th but unfortunately have been re-admitted to Iowa City Children’s Hospital since he has Covid. He also tested positive for a Staph infection in his blood stream and has not pooped on his own since December 11th. This has been an emotional and overwhelming rollercoaster and any help is appreciated! ❤️🩹🥰
Hi everyone,
I’m starting this Spot Fund to help support my family during one of the hardest moments of our lives. My son arrived 10½ weeks early (29 weeks gestation age) and we have now been in the NICU in the hospital for over a month. I haven’t been able to work since I have had to be at the hospital with him, and I do not receive maternity leave from my work. I came in on October 11th with bleeding, they kept me in the hospital and tried to control it and keep him inside me longer but I had placenta previa and started hemorrhaging (bleeding out) badly so it was no longer safe for either baby or myself and ended up going into emergency surgery on October 13th. He was born weighing only 3 pounds. We have been in the NICU in the hospital ever since and still unsure how much longer we’ll be here. He needs to get stronger and continue to gain weight he is still very small.
Your support will help me take care of my son and get things I still need for him since I never got to have a baby shower, it will help take care of my daughter, and also help cover basics like groceries, bills, and help with a deposit payment so we can get our own place once we are released.
Any help, big or small, means more than I can ever explain! Thank you for supporting us during this unexpected and emotional journey! ❤️
