Salvador, my beloved pigeon of 15 years is facing a serious illness. Initially I thought it was something pigeons often get called "canker" but she is not responding well to her medication and needs to undergo bloodwork and exams.
This could not have come at a more difficult time, as my family just moved across states and I started a new job. I am asking for donations to help us pay for the tests and medication Salvador needs to get well. Anything helps. Thank you in advance.
Here is some background info on Salvador:
+She hatched in the Haight Ashbury of San Francisco and is about 15 years old.
+She is a Leo.
+We named her Salvador because we thought she was male, but it turned out she just exhibited male traits because she was just Sassy. We realized she was a girl when she laid her first egg. But don't call her Sal or Sally. She ONLY responds to her name.
+She has never been able to fly. One of her wings is larger than the other and her legs and feet are deformed. Despite this, she is a well traveled bird and has lived in almost every major city in California, Oklahoma City, Nebraska, Iowa, and has traveled across the country. She was possibly the first pigeon to free solo El Capitan in Yosemite.
+She loves going to the beach and watching the waves.
+Her favorite food is safflower seeds.
+She will only drink filtered bottled water and gets offended when offered tap water.
She has had two husbands and one wife, and outlived them all. Sadly her wife passed away this January after seven years of partnership, and it was very hard on her.
