Thank you so much to all our donors! We were blown away by the rapid and generous donations. It's truly a testament to all the lives Maya touched. Please know that your donations have gone directly to funeral costs and directly to the family for travel and funeral arrangements locally in Mexico.
There is nothing that can ease the pain of losing your son and brother, but not having to think about funding the travel, organizing the funeral services and care arrangements makes an unmeasurable difference and provides space to grieve. We can't thank you enough for helping to provide that space.
Teresa (Maya's mom) and Karen (Maya's sister) were able to spend time with Maya's community. They were able to learn about who cared for and loved Maya and why he chose to call this place home. They were able to celebrate with many of you at the Memorial at South of the Border. What a wonderful experience. Thank you to Antonio and all of the staff at the restaurant for making that possible. Everyone there has also suffered the loss of a chosen family member. We hope this time also provided an opportunity for them to participate in the community celebration of Maya as well.
Teresa brought Maya's remains back to Mexico. She and Karen expressed their gratitude and amazement at the sheer breadth of reach this fundraiser had.
Maya's family will also have all of your comments to reflect on.

¡Muchísimas gracias a todos nuestros donadores! Nos sentimos profundamente conmovidos por las donaciones tan rápidas y generosas. Esto es una verdadera muestra del impacto que Maya tuvo en la vida de tantas personas. Queremos que sepan que sus donaciones se han destinado directamente a los gastos del funeral y a la familia para cubrir los gastos de viaje y los arreglos funerarios en México.
