Hello and I wanted to share the rescue story of my sweet boy Parker Delgado. He is a German Shepherd I rescued in June 2022 from the Humane Society in Marietta, OH (close to my hometown Parkersburg).  I would follow their page and see lots of dogs and he stood out to me.  He came in as a stray and you could see the sadness in his eyes from years of neglect and abuse.  They estimated he was around 6 years old when found in March 2022 and as I watched him not get adopted, I decided I needed to rescue this fella and show him all the love in the world. Delgado was his shelter name and Parkersburg is where I am from so, he became Parker Delgado. Parker has overcome a lot and is the sweetest, happiest, most handsome fella and all he needed was love a fresh start.  Parker was underweight, multiple skin and ear infections, GI issues, Perianal Fistulas, 3 rotten teeth, and he had no nails...turns out Autoimmune disease, too.  I could feel his sadness and I cannot imagine why someone would treat a dog this way.  I immediately brought him home and was able to get him into my Veterinarian as a preferred walk-in due to the nature of his condition.  The first 2 weeks were the worst, we had to see if we could get some major improvements and Parker was a fighter.  He made great strides and has continued to flourish over the last 16 months.  He has gained 20lbs, his skin and ear infections are gone, his GI system is improved, the Perianal Fistulas are 70% better, and he is on a great Novel Protein diet/protocol to fight his Autoimmune issues.  Since this time, I did lose my primary source of income and have managed to regain some and due to the cost of his diet and treatments, I have struggled a bit financially.  I have a healthy, loving, smart, boy and he needs a consultation at the University of Georgia Veterinary Internal Specialist MD to see if there is solution for his lingering GI issues, Perianal Fistulas, and if Neutering is a good option and would help this along with other treatment.  He requires a specialist for this due to the complexity of his fistulas, abnormal scrotum, and underlying scar tissue and this can help with fistulas. Also, eventually he will need surgery to remove some rotten teeth and need to ensure his system is strong enough for this as well.  It has been hard for me to try and start my own fundraiser for my sweet boy Parker and only doing so due to the nature of the expenses the last 16 months (several thousands of dollars).  I hope you enjoy Parker Delgado's story, and he deserves everything I can give him; he saved me too after losing my beloved Mechi 3 years ago.
