Help Me Build a Legacy of Faith, Education & Hope
My name is Ava, and I am an early childhood educator, Christian school leader, wife, mother, and lifelong believer in the power of education.
I am starting this GoFundMe because I am asking my community to help me continue a journey that has taken faith, sacrifice, perseverance, and courage to complete.
My passion for early childhood education began in Jamaica, where I was born and raised. While tutoring my nephew, I discovered something that changed the direction of my life. I realized that working with children was more than something I enjoyed; it was my calling. Although I had initially pursued a career in the business arena, I made the courageous decision to change career paths and pursue education.
Along the way, I experienced devastating loss. My mother, who was my greatest motivator and cheerleader, became ill and suddenly passed away.
My mother taught me something that has carried me throughout my entire life. I was born missing several fingers on my right hand, and from infancy she taught me that I was not limited by what I was missing. She taught me that I was an overcomer. She taught me independence, resilience, and that love has no boundaries. Most importantly, she taught me that there are no limits to what I can learn, accomplish, or become. So, even through grief, I continued. My current priority is completing my educational journey at UNF and managing the educational expenses that come with pursuing this dream. Scholarship assistance has helped me tremendously, but I still have financial responsibilities that I must meet while continuing my education.
Every contribution will help relieve some of that financial burden and allow me to remain focused on completing my degree and building the foundation for the work I believe I am called to do.
