A Hand Up, Not a Handout: Supporting Our Houseless Brothers and Sisters

My name is Angel Diaz Paula and I'm driven by a deep faith to serve our houseless community. I've seen firsthand the struggles they face, and I believe that with the right support, they can break free from the cycle of homelessness and rebuild their lives. That's why I've created this fundraising campaign for my Houseless Connection Services Ministry.

Our Vision:

We envision a community where everyone has a safe place to call home and the resources they need to thrive. We believe in empowering individuals to take control of their lives and providing them with the tools and support to achieve lasting independence.

Our Approach:

This project focuses on a holistic approach to helping individuals transition out of homelessness. We're not just offering temporary shelter; we're providing a comprehensive program that addresses the root causes of homelessness and equips individuals for long-term success.

Phase 1: A Pilot Program

We're starting small, focusing on assisting three individuals through a structured program. This initial phase will allow us to refine our approach and demonstrate the effectiveness of our model. We believe that by focusing on a smaller group, we can provide more personalized attention and support, maximizing their chances of success.

Our Program Includes:

• Comprehensive Assessment: We begin with a detailed survey to understand each individual's unique needs, challenges, and strengths. This allows us to tailor our program to their specific circumstances.
• Life Skills Training: We provide guidance and instruction on essential life skills, including etiquette, ethics, and establishing healthy routines. These are often skills that individuals experiencing homelessness haven't had the opportunity to develop.
• Financial Literacy: We teach budgeting, mindful spending, and financial management to empower individuals to take control of their finances and build a stable future.
• Housing Support: We are seeking to partner with PadSplit to provide safe and affordable housing options for our participants. We are working to negotiate a discounted rate of approximately 50% for six months, which will provide a crucial foundation for their transition.
• Assistance with State Resources: We will help individuals access available state assistance programs and explore potential grant opportunities to further support their journey to self-sufficiency.
• Ongoing Mentorship and Support: We provide consistent mentorship and support throughout the program and beyond, ensuring that individuals have the guidance and encouragement they need to stay on track.

P.S.  I am working on a DIY project as well.   One that involves the making of Goat Milk Soap, Toothpaste, Essential oil Body Mist, Salves and Lip balm, and your donation would help me buy more materials and a steady place to Mentees how it’s done and to sustain the selves using all natural products.
