I have been accepted into a volunteer program that is allowing me to travel to Kenya, Africa for 3 weeks in the month of September! I will spend the first two weeks in the Kindergarten/childcare department where I will spend my time assisting local teachers and volunteers in their education efforts. My last week will be spent in Women's Education. This effort will focus on teaching women in low-income areas the importance of independence and various skills and trades to help encourage them as well. HIV and AIDS are a serious concern in this part of Kenya and time and resources will also be spent educating the women on this matter. I feel so blessed to be given this opportunity and look forward to this incredible, life-changing experience!
