Lola, who is only 6 years old, has been a very healthy dog up until two weeks ago. She started peeing everywhere, not eating, wouldn't play, vomiting, and just did not seem like herself. After two nights at the emergency vet, her vitals were so critical that she needed further care. She was transferred to the OSU veterinary center where it was discovered that she had a liver shunt in addition to Pneumonia. A liver shunt is where the blood that should be filtered through the liver is bypassing the liver and flowing directly into the systemic circulation. This causes the toxins that should be filtered out in the liver to be back into her circulation. We're hoping she stabilizes in the next two weeks so she can get the procedure to fix the liver shunt. She is at home right now and is doing okay but vet bills are already high and have the potential to go higher. As of right now, Lolas vet bills are nearing $7000. Anything above $5,000 will be donated to the OSU veterinary center.
She has a biological sister, Cookie, that has been heavily emotionally affected by this. Lola and Cookie have never been separated and do everything together. We appreciate any donation to help Lola recover and Cookie get her sister back!
