Hi everyone,

I’m creating this fundraiser to help my dear friend Lex during one of the most difficult chapters of her life.

Over the past several months, Lex has been battling serious medical issues that ultimately caused her to lose her job. She is currently in the process of appealing for disability and unemployment benefits, but those decisions can take months — leaving her without income in the meantime.

Just one week before Christmas, Lex also lost her housing through no fault of her own. She had signed a lease for a new apartment, but the leasing company failed to honor the agreement, leaving her suddenly without a place to live. She and her dog are currently staying temporarily with family, but this arrangement is very short-term and unstable.

To make matters worse, Lex’s car — her only way to earn money through delivery or short-term work — broke down at the same time. Without a working vehicle, she cannot generate income, attend appointments easily, or secure stable housing.

Lex has done everything she can to help herself. She has exhausted her savings trying to stay afloat, reached out to assistance programs, and sought every available resource — only to be told she must be in an even worse position before help is available. The emotional toll of being turned away while already vulnerable has been devastating.

This fundraiser is not for anything extravagant. The goal is simply to help cover:

  • Car repairs, so Lex can work and regain independence
  • First month’s rent (and potentially a second for stability) so she can secure safe housing
  • Basic living expenses while she waits for medical and employment assistance decisions

Even a small contribution can make a meaningful difference. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page is just as appreciated.

Lex is kind, hardworking, and generous — the kind of person who would give her last dollar to help someone else. Right now, she needs support to get through this moment and begin rebuilding.

Thank you so much for reading, caring, and helping if you’re able. 💛

Update: Car Fixed + Urgent Housing Push (We’ve Exhausted Options)

Hi everyone,

A massive, heartfelt thank you again to every single person who has donated, shared, sent messages, or just held space for Lex during this storm. Your kindness has already moved mountains—$1,315 raised so far, and we are truly grateful.

That money went straight to the priorities it could cover: fixing Lex’s car and paying the car insurance. Having reliable transportation again is a game-changer—it means she can get to appointments, search for opportunities, and keep pushing forward.

None of that would have been possible without your support. 🙏💛

But the clock is ticking on housing. The temporary spot where Lex and her dog are staying ends in just two weeks. After that, the only option would be living in the car, which isn’t safe or feasible long-term, especially with her pup and her ongoing recovery.

To add to the challenge: On January 16th, Lex twisted her leg badly, which has paused any chance of physical work (her main way to try earning right now). Unemployment still hasn’t approved or given a timeline despite the application and appeals, so no income is coming in yet.

We’ve been fighting hard on the housing front—Lex has attended multiple housing meetings and applied everywhere possible—but the waitlists are at least a year long in our area, and there are no immediate grants or programs available to help with move-in costs like first/last month’s rent or security deposit. We’ve exhausted every community resource, grant, and assistance option we could find.

That’s why your help is still so critical right now. The immediate goal is to secure:

•  First month’s rent (and ideally a second month for real stability and breathing room)

•  Basic setup/living expenses (food, pet care, utilities, etc.) while we wait on unemployment/disability

The overall $5,000 goal remains because these needs are layered and ongoing, but anything extra contributed today could literally prevent a crisis and get Lex and her dog into a safe home before the deadline.

If you can donate even a small amount more, or reshare the link (spot.fund/5wh1fhwsc) to reach new eyes, it would change everything. Every bit and every share matters more than words can say.

Lex is staying strong through the pain and uncertainty, and knowing people care keeps her going.

Thank you for being that light—we’re so grateful for this community.

With all our love and appreciation,

Taylor, Lex, (and Royce) ❤️🐶
