Just over a week ago, the devasting Maui wildfires, which are now categorized as the deadliest US fires in over 100 years, left a trail of destruction in their wake, affecting countless lives, destroying businesses, homes, and displacing families. As we watch the images of roaring flames on our screens, we must remember the real stories of people behind those images - families, friends, neighbors who've lost everything.
The historic town of Lahaina is completely gone, and thousands of people were forced to evacuate, losing homes, businesses, loved ones, and pets. It's time for us to come together and help them Rise from the Ashes.
The people and businesses of Maui will need assistance rebuilding after the fires. There is a housing crunch, businesses have to re-build and tourism needs to continue, as long as visitors do not deplete resources and accommodations for the displaced victims.
