I’ve always believed that life in New York has a unique rhythm, but nothing prepared me for the boundless joy and unexpected challenges of caring for Kayima, my spirited rescue dog. Since adopting her, every day has become an adventure. Her playful barks echo through our small apartment, turning it into a haven of love and laughter. But as joyful as it is, caring for Kayima has brought some unanticipated expenses that have become a bit overwhelming.
Recently, Kayima needed an urgent round of treatments, and the costs have added up more quickly than I anticipated. From regular vet visits to specialized care, it's been a journey of ups and downs. My heart is in the right place, wanting to provide her with everything she needs, but affording all this on my own is proving challenging. Every wag of her tail and mischievous look reminds me of why I took on this responsibility, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
