MARHABA!!

My name is Kelsey. For those of you that know me, you’d know that supporting Palestinians and their safety has become one of the deepest things I care about ever since my time in Palestine. I wish there was more for me to do than share the stories of families who need help, but this is at least one way to amplify their voices when they’re being so desperately forced into silence. Please do what you can to help any family. They might be using their last battery percentage or electricity to bet on ordinary folks across the world to help share their stories.

With that, hear from my new friend Nael, 18, himself:

“Since the first time Khan Younis was attacked, we have been besieged in the agency’s industrial zone, which they call a safe place. We left our homes under shelling and gunfire. We did not take anything from the house, not even our mattresses. We left the agency’s industrial zone under shelling and gunfire, and our lives were in danger. We miraculously moved to Rafah. We spent two nights on the road without anything, without a blanket. We bought a tent to protect us from the bitter cold and to protect my family. It was the last money we had. We were suffering from transporting water, from the cold, and from the scarcity of food. Our health was not good. Our lives continued like this when the Israeli army left Khan Younis. We went to our home to see it, but it was completely destroyed. After that, we were displaced from Rafah to Khan Younis and built our tent on top of the rubble of our home.

About two weeks before the invasion of Rafah, I left for Egypt through coordination, but my family was not able to leave because we did not have the money and because my family was besieged in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.

They suffer because of the high prices of food, drink, and clothing, and living is difficult, as you know and see how people live in Gaza. I am afraid of losing my family in Gaza, as the occupation army is killing innocent children, women and young people in Gaza.”

Nael has 12 family members still living in Gaza, many of them young children. Currently the IOF has the border crossing closed, but once it opens, they are going to need a substantial amount to get everyone across and reunited with Nael. That doesn’t even account for their resettling needs once in Egypt or really provide much for them now in their current state of displacement. They have a destroyed home, are preparing for a harsh winter in a tent with inadequate shelter, clothing, or access to basic things like clean water, food, diapers, hygiene, jobs, education, and medical care. They are in constant danger of becoming targets of the IOF. Please donate to this family inshallah and SHARE! Let the world know that we love them!!

Marhaba,

Things are harder than ever for nearly everyone. Nael & his brothers are in dire financial need to raise money of at least $800 just to afford their residence permits in their current location. This does not include the fee they still owe for the $1,500 loan they took out to leave Egypt, housing costs, food, utilities, transportation, resettlement fees, legal fees to meet with legal aids to help unify their family, winter clothing, hygiene products, etc. They are able to see a free clinic for basic medical care but nothing else is really covered. The first step is the $800 to allow them to stay, and they need it ASAP.

Israa is in her fifth or sixth month of pregnancy w/ twins in Gaza, & really should be eating a lot more nutritious food, more eggs, tahini paste, tuna, dates, peanut butter, tomatoes, lentils. She doesn’t have access to adequate prenatal care or folic acid, so has to get her vitamins through the food she eats. Last time she gave birth, she had complications & was too malnourished to nurse, so this really is a high risk pregnancy, especially living under bombs. Her husband has been sick with a fever, flu, & breathing infection going around the camp that many members of the family have had and they cannot afford or do not have access to medication. Omar, Raghda, Nour El Din have also had the infection which is highly contagious.

Omar also has severe diabetes & high blood pressure & his breathing infection has caused chest pain which exacerbates his chronic pain. His foot pain makes it difficult to walk. His medicine is $50 per bottle (expired).

Zakaria (2) has had severe bug bites and rashes all over his arms and legs & has never had a toy, but knows the difference between drones, planes, missiles, bombs, etc.

Ihsan (15) has an unset shoulder due to a building pillar falling on him & having nothing but a dirty sling to hold his arm in place.

Rola is in need of a crainioplasty after being hit in the head with a tank shell. She had a head surgery but the doctors said they didn’t have the proper equipment to finish. She temporarily lost sight, ability to walk, & is suffering tremendously due to not being able to leave.

Please consider donating to help this family as the occupation continues to escalate their suffering.

It is hard to believe it is already the end of the month! Nael and his two brothers have been settled in their new country for a while, living with some relatives from their Bedouin tribe. They are trying to raise money to pay back the loan they took out for travel expenses, plane tickets, residence fees, and visa fees. They still need about $5000. The family in Gaza is growing increasingly sicker, as 3 members have developed a violent chest and respiratory infection and have trouble breathing. They had to take out another loan just to pay for the medication. Living in such close proximity makes them more susceptible to disease, spreading infections, and the air pollution makes it much harder to breathe. Rola is hanging in there as she awaits approval for a medical evacuation for her crainioplasty. Omar is enduring untreated diabetes, high blood pressure, foot pain/gangrene, plus severe chest pain & the new respiratory infection. He is also in need of a knee surgery. Raghda is the sole cook, cleaner, and caretaker for the family while also having the respiratory issues. Zakaria has a scabies infection & mites/burn combination of skin irritation. Ahmed has stomach ulcers. Nour El-Din has a respiratory infection. Ihsan has an unset arm fracture. Samah, 1, has no vaccines, medical treatment, was unable to be breastfed due to her mother’s malnourishment. Formula was only available on the black market at exorbitant prices. Diapers are hard to come by. Her mother, Israa, is now pregnant again with twins. There are no real maternity centers, prenatal clinics or vitamins, still a manmade famine. She has been trying to make up for lost vitamins with nutrients but with that comes more expenses. For example, they have been trying to get peanut butter, dates, eggs, tuna, tomatoes, tea, tahini paste, olive oil, lentils, & potatoes. The family got exactly 1 light bulb installed for the first time since 10/7. There’s still no running water, bathing facilities, toilets, or fuel. Something exciting I have been working on is putting together a case file for every member of their family, consolidating medical records, scans, prescriptions, photos, and prepared an application for 13 medical evacuations. The “yellow line” is now less than 1km from their camp & drones hover above them daily. Before they can leave, they need to pay off the debt which has grown to around $750 in Gaza. I have been able to get the funds for everyone to get shoes, socks, underwear, toothbrushes, toothpaste. They can always use soap as this is the best thing to prevent infection. It is around $5/bar. Shampoo $12. Toothpaste $8. Diapers $20. Menstrual products $15. Shirts $10-15. Shorts $15-20. Washcloth $8. Internet cards $20. Firewood $15. Electricity 30 shekels/month. Pharmacy bill $100. Rat poison $20. Tarpaulin $15. Blanket $15. Baseball Hat $10. Food $40/day. Nael and brother’s visas: $2000. Thoughts and prayers don’t block bombs, infection, disease, drones, missiles, rats, bugs, scabies, lice, sunburn, malnutrition, lack of drinkable water, medicine, housing. When we have the means, what will skipping door dash this week make you miss? What about the coffee run? Could you do without Starbucks, McDonald’s, General Mills, kfc, Airbnb, booking.com, Reebok, Puma, Remax, intel, hp, Microsoft, wix, Waze, papa John’s, Pizza Hut, Burger King, Expedia, teva, Cisco, chevron, XBOX? Start with a few and research how they directly fund war crimes. Starving the war industry is essential to shutting it down. Then redirect what you save to families affected around the globe. There are millions. While we cannot change millions of lives on our own, millions of us can force our leaders to work for us and represent our values. Humane ones.

Marhaba! Nael, Shaddah, & Uday are leaving for their journey to another country to apply for family reunification in a few days. They will embark to a new country & then another to apply for their family reunification process. To protect their safety & privacy, I won’t share details yet, but they had to take out a $6000 loan. With donations they bought suitcases and backpacks for their first flight. I have done what I can to provide for a family of 12 for almost 2 years with the donations on the site, making shirts, plus sending money to Nael for rent, other bills, medical expenses, etc. The donations have helped his family buy tents, tarps, firewood, medicine, diapers, clothing, food, a cooking pot, shoes, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, towels, rat poison, menstrual products, formula, socks, and even helped their tribe member who had his leg amputated buy a crutch, clothes, food, & as he & his mother had everything stolen from them crossing through Rafah. Nael’s father has helped other members of their tribe & camp w/ food. The loan was taken out by Amer in the UAE who has lived incredibly selflessly, sending back all his money despite wanting to save up for a dowry. They have 50 days to pay back the loan. What would it be like if you could help this family who has been through the absolute depths of hell, despite being descendants of wealthy Bedouin warriors? What would it be like for you to help rescue them from genocide? Any amount you can give would change their world. You might not be able to stop the genocide but you could play a role in stopping it for them. $20, $30, $50, $100 & share with as many people as possible. The genocide never ended, the starvation never eased. The headlines just shifted as we went back to our lives. Shukran.

Nael will be turning 20 on July 1! He has been looking forward to celebrating with his brothers and the family they’re staying with. Let’s see if we can help ease his burden a bit through some donations :)

Shukran,

Until all are free,

Shukran.
