JJ has never had an easy life. He arrived with two other dogs at the shelter, which volunteers believed were his mom and sister. The three were on an evidence hold due to an ongoing inhumane investigation and once their hold was over, sadly JJ was separated from them and transferred to a different shelter.
Through all of this, he remained friendly, affectionate and easy going. He stole many hearts and became a volunteer favorite. However, in early May, he unfortunately got injured and suffered a torn cruciate (CCL) in his kennel. Thankfully, a sponsor helped tremendously and started JJ on a physical therapy program with acupuncture and laser therapy. He responded well to the treatments and showed a lot of improvement!
Fast forward to June 2024 - after waiting patiently for almost a year, JJ finally gets pulled by a rescue and gets to leave the shelter! His physical therapy program was offered to the rescue because it was highly recommended, but they denied the help. Shortly, it was discovered that the "rescue" that pulled JJ sends dogs into boarding facilities and warehouses dogs. After many emails, JJ was rescued from them and is at the rehab facility where he is back on his therapy treatments.
When JJ was finally picked up from a boarding facility, JJ was laying in his kennel in 100 degree weather on rocks - his elbows were sore and bleeding, had joint inflammation from very little movement and had open sores in between the digits of his paws. It was extremely hot and there were no fans or misters to keep the dogs cool. As a result of his setback, there is a likelihood that he will need surgery for his leg. The surgery, post-op care and therapy costs will add up quickly! Despite how much JJ has gone through - from living in inhumane conditions, being in the shelter system and then being saved from a "rescue" he is STILL extremely affectionate, super duper sweet, and just wants those belly rubs. He has done well with other dogs, has great leash manners and is housebroken! He is a very lovely, wonderful dog that has never experienced a life that he can enjoy.
This boy is more than deserving of an incredible life, and hope you will join us in making this happen by donating (no amount is too small) to get him the medical care so he is no longer in pain. YOU would make a huge difference in his life. JJ would be exceptionally grateful for any help and we would be too."
He will even flash you one of his engaging and adorable smiles.
Woof woof,
