Casey was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer (triple positive invasive ductal carcinoma) on May 24th, 2024, just a few weeks after her 30th birthday. A painless lump in her left breast with no familial history of cancer led to ultrasounds, mammograms, biopsies, an MRI and a PET scan, which has led to a full-blown cancer diagnosis. Given the aggressive nature of the HER2 receptor, Casey needs 6 rounds of TCHP chemo, a double mastectomy and reconstruction, and 5 to 10 years of endocrine therapy. While this regimen will save her life, it will challenge her peace of mind, physical wellness, sense of normalcy, stability, and chances of having children. Despite it all, Casey has faced this scary time head on with vulnerability, humor, authenticity, hope, and fierceness.

Casey brings love, light, generosity, and support to the lives of so many people and we want to pay it forward to remind her of just how mighty her army of supporters is! Any contribution is welcome, never expected, and appreciated more than she could ever express.  Prayers, snail mail “thinking of you” notes, good vibes, kick cancer’s ass playlists, book/movie/tv show recommendations for passing time in chemo, will be invaluable during treatment and recovery.

Casey will use any donations to off-set fees for procedures and appointments, prescription drugs, and possible fertility treatment. Any remaining funds will be donated to the Young Survival Coalition, a non-profit that “strengthens the community, addresses the unique needs, amplifies the voice and improves the quality of life of young adults affected by breast cancer, locally, nationally and internationally.”

Let’s do all we can so cancer doesn’t diminish Casey’s spirit and motivation to kick cancer’s ass. With your support she will continue to be a light in this world as a friend, sister, daughter, yoga teacher, teammate, coworker, and human.

Read what Casey’s friends, family, and coworkers have to say about her:

“Upon meeting Casey, the first thing I noticed about her was her sense of  humor, good lord,  when I’m in her presence I ALWAYS laugh-out-loud at least once. Usually way more. The next thing I noticed was how disarmingly honest and “herself” she manages to be. Her ability to make people feel safe, seen and free to be their flawed selves is inspiring and really such a gift.  As I’ve come to know her more, I’ve noticed the beautiful, intense and unbelievably thoughtful way in which she loves her people. It is such a gift to know her. Talented, beautiful, and an absolute powerhouse of a woman, Casey has so so so much to offer this world. I know this diagnosis will one day be a brief and distant part of her story, a blip in the past.” —Veronica G.

“Casey has always been a lighthouse of love and friendship when anyones ever felt sad, unloved or lost a true friend who has so much compassion and love for those around her and brightens everyone’s day with her incredible sense of humor. Blessed to call her a friend and glad she’s always been there for me.” — Alex R.

“Casey is my boss at work. That word might sound dreadful to some folks but, I love the way “Boss” as a noun, verb, and adjective sounds to me. Casey is my boss and I am sincerely thankful for that cause I have so much to learn. She is an amazing mentor & leader who sacrifices herself for us all. She bosses us around all the time to take care of ourselves and she brings mental health to normalcy (so rare). She forces us to want to be happier & better. She is also a boss ass woman who’s so brilliant, kind, and not someone to mess with. So, I know she’ll kick cancer’s dumbass and I can’t wait” - We$t

“There’s so much I could say about Casey, and not a singular word I can think of to truly encapsulate her. She’s the first to notice when you aren’t feeling like yourself; she’s the loudest cheerleader in your corner; she’s the first person to thank you for changing her point of view by challenging it and the first person I think of when I’m in need of some tough love or a genuine laugh. She’s taught me how to be a stronger, more independent and loving human being by her caring advice, considerate friendship and vulnerability about the good and the bad. She’s already become such a strong advocate for women’s health in our community and now one for women’s cancer-related health. I truly can’t wait to see what she will accomplish and the impact it will have.” -Andrea E.

“Casey has had a profound impact on all those around her. Casey is thoughtful, generous, and hilarious. Casey has fostered a safe and inclusive work environment and I feel lucky to be a part of her team. I have never had a supervisor as considerate and caring as Casey. I admire her positivity and relentless pursuit of finding humor and joy in any situation. We are all fortunate to have Casey in our lives.” -Cooper

“Casey is an absolute gem. She brings laughter to everyone’s life. She has always been there when I needed a friend or a person to be spontaneous with. She’s the best dance partner at any Taylor Swift Dance Party and will dance and sing like a maniac right there next to you. Casey is an amazing friend who will drop everything if you are having a crisis and need to talk. She will hear you out and offer solutions if asked or just let you cry and listen, reminding you that you are not alone. She loves her friends deeply and is there when they need her. Her self reflection and care for her people is always evident. She also manages to bring humor into any situation, making you laugh even in dark times.  Casey is love and joy and light. She has profound love for her friends, family, coworkers, Mr. Gravy, and especially her sisters. We’re all rallying around her to remind her how truly loved she is. Love you Casey girl xoxo”-Jazmine C.

“Casey is a light in the darkness of this world. Her willingness to be vulnerable in every aspect of her life is inspiring. The care she puts into every relationship - whether it be personal or professional - makes the people around her feel like they can succeed in anything. Casey cares about people in a way that not only makes me want to be a better human, but a better me. I’m thankful to know her and be loved by her.”  - Lydia M

“Casey and I haven’t been friends for long but from the few short months I have known her she is a true light in this world of chaos. Her vulnerability, humor, passion, growth, strength, kindness is unmatched and inspiring. I know she’s going to kick cancer's ass and she’s got a village to support her so she can keep shining her light.” - Sarah M

“To say that Casey has made me a better friend and human would be an understatement - she is without a doubt one of the kindest, strongest, funniest and  most giving people I know. She is generous with her time, her love and her support ALWAYS with no strings attached and is a breath of fresh air. She is a trusted confidant, the queen of good communication and a wise, brave soul. I am beyond proud to know her and call her a best friend.” - Shelby S

“Casey has a heart of gold and is probably one of the funniest people I know. I want anyone who sees this to know that your investment is more than worthwhile. The American healthcare system is a bear to navigate, and having some of the financial burden lifted will help our girl kick cancer in the ass!” Brittany R

“What an absolute gift in this world. After our very first conversion, I knew we would have a soul-filled friendship for life. The selflessness and vulnerability Casey shares to others is so rare, and she truly touches the lives of everyone who crosses her path.. There is a saying, ‘People are in your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime,’ & Casey is the epitome of a friend / sister / soulmate you will have for a lifetime. Love you infinity, Casey.” - Natalia B

“To know Casey is to love her!!! She is the wind beneath my wings and the sunshine that shines through the clouds on a stormy day. She fills the role of a sister and friend with so much love and does so flawlessly with every hug and phone call and joke she makes. I could not be more proud to be Casey’s sister as she brings so much joy and life and adventure into everyone’s world, especially mine.”   -Paige <3

“There just isn’t enough space here to fully acknowledge and encapsulate who my Casey is… as one of my best friends, I am truly blessed to see and feel her heart in action every day. Casey changes every room she walks in with her vivacious, refreshing, and powerful essence, she loves in a way most could never understand but are lucky to experience, her heart is pure gold and she would go to the ends of the earth for those that she cares about, she brings true authenticity to everything she does and encourages everyone around her to feel empowered to do the same, she is one of the strongest and most resilient women I’ve ever known, she is unapologetically herself in every setting, she is everyone’s biggest cheerleader, she exudes passion, she is gorgeous from the deepest parts of her soul to her bold, bright, welcoming smile, her beautiful, complex mind encourages you to think more proudly and see the world in a new way each time you’re around her, her sense of humor is literally unmatched, she is highly-intelligent in every sense of the world (intellectually, emotionally, spiritually, etc.), she is one of the most thoughtful friends I’ve ever had, and she makes you feel grounded, safe, and deeply understood whenever you’re in her presence. These descriptors only scratch the surface of who she is, so as unfair as I believe this diagnosis is, if there is anyone up to the challenge… it’s my Case. I love you endlessly, bean – now let’s kick cancer’s a**!!! I can only begin to imagine the vast impact you’re going to make on the other side of this most difficult obstacle; you’re remarkable.” xoxoxo, Lilz

“I’ve never laughed as hard as I have with Casey. She is one of the realest friends I have in my life. She is so smart, so caring and generous. Why do bad things happen to good people? I hope through small financial gifts, acts of service, that we will be able to pull together for this incredible woman who has done so much for all of us. She has brought us together with her warmth, genuine kindness and built trust with her straightforward advice and friendship. Reginald (her tumor) doesn’t deserve such a happy and beautiful home (her breast). Let’s make sure he is evicted.” - Brooke M.

“How do I put my best friend into words?

Casey is strength personified. She relentlessly fights the good fight for so many people in her life. She pushes her loved ones to grow and learn and better ourselves. She is a champion for anyone lucky enough to call her their friend.

She loves with an incredibly deep passion that inspires me daily. She helps me see the stars when it feels like every light has gone out. She is my fellow fireheart. Getting to call her my best friend is one of the greatest fortunes of my life and I simply cannot picture a world without her.

She is also hilarious and feisty and so incredibly kind. She has a remarkable way with words that makes people stop and listen. She is the type of person that makes you instantly better. She brings out the best in everyone around her and she will go to whatever ends to help someone when they’re having a bad day.

I humbly ask that you consider making a financial contribution to help my very best friend during this incredibly turbulent time. There is no amount too small.

Casey has a village of support around her already, please help us turn it into an army.

Light it up, Casey 🩷” - Catie A.

"Casey is one of those people who you meet for the first time and you feel like you’ve been friends for years. She is always going out of her way to help others and help them feel special and important. Even when she got the news of her cancer one of the first things she did is use it as a reminder for others to get checked up & not take their health for granted. Besides being a Boss, colleague and friend she is a fighter and I know she will continue to fight and eventually kick cancer’s ass. All she needs is for us to show her as much support as she has shown her friends, family & her loved ones."  - Jorge C.

“Casey has been one of my best friends for over a decade and through that time I have had the absolute honor and privilege of experiencing life with her. She is by far one of the most loving, courageous, generous, and down right amazing people I have ever met. She has made every single day better by just being in my life. She has a heart full of love for all she encounters and continues to amaze me with all she accomplishes in every aspect of her life. Since meeting freshman year of college, I have seen Casey find her voice, find her courage, find her strength, find herself, and I have no doubt she will find her fight as she takes on this next hurdle. She has brought so much love, laugher, and light (to uncountable infinity and back!) into the lives of everyone she encounters, the very same people who all stand behind her now as she kicks cancer’s ass!!” - Emily K.
