Our 2 year old Daniel was diagnosed with RSV on Christmas Day. In the days afterwards he got increasingly pale. Bloodwork completed by his pediatrician showed severe anemia. Daniel was immediately admitted to Maria Fareri Children's Hospital where he required numerous blood transfusions and was diagnosed with severe iron deficiency anemia. After he was discharged from the hospital on 1/7/24 he developed progressively worse headaches and neck pain. Daniel was admitted to Maria Fareri again on 1/12 when brain imaging showed a mass at the base of Daniel's skull, further imaging showed it to be an abscess. Daniel also was found to have a moderate brain abnormality which will need a follow up with a Neurosurgeon . Daniel needed to stay in the hospital for four days until he is successfully treated and ready to go home. To make matters worse, right before Daniel was admitted to the hospital, Steve lost his job at the beginning of the year. Both of us have been in an out of hospital staying together as a family to help Daniel . Daniel continues to show improvement and has many follow ups with multiple specialists.
