Navy Vet Jacob Keith age 43 suffered a second heart attack and stroke on April 3rd. this year.
Hi my name is Charity Kertz, I originally started to create this page in hopes of finding people who were willing to send some of their hard earned money to total strangers in need of help. Jake went to the VA hospital in Palo Alto yesturday and then this evening around 1030pm a call from the doctors stating that not only did he suffer the stroke which left him with the loss of his peripheral vision and was told he could no longer drive. The test results showed that he likely suffered another heart attack. so his mom rushed him back up to the hospital in Palo Alto which is a little over an hour drive.
Im trying to raise funds to go be with him do to the fact that I just spent the last of our money on gas getting up to Palo Alto to see the Doctor and today on Pizza, a Frazil and a scratcher 3 things we love. (we lost by the way on the scratchers lol... but it was his reward for making it down to the store) This was the first day I could get him to get out of bed. he's been sleeping for the past few days. we walked down to the store because he needed to do a little walking. his back has been hurting and while the warm bathes and me applying muscle rub. He has still been in pain from laying down too much. He has no energy and during our walk we had to stop every 100ft or so. He asked for me to finish the rest of the trip on my own but I grabbed his hand and said "you got this". so the rest of the way we held hands and walked to the store. I tried to get him to go to the VA hall because I wanted to ask about what resources he may be able to receive and plus they were playing music and I thought he way enjoy that. but he was to tired and I believe he's not ready to accept these new changes and in speaking about them makes it all the more real. So we walked to the cemetery which happens to be in the same direction of the apartment. there was a hill he had to walk up and once again we did it together. I hoped that by holding my hand that I would pass on the energy needed to make it up to a spot where you can sit and look over the little town of San Juan Bautista, CA. we made it and this time a year everything is green and beautiful. So we sat and talked and I showing him houses I was looking at. Ones with property because right now he is in an apartment which he's not use it. he grew up in Watsonville, CA on the back roads at his grandparents house on a few acres and I'm getting off subject sorry.
So my Main reason in asking for help is to help pay for the therapy Jake needs for the Vision loss and the Prim glasses I'm told will help him to see while driving if we are able to show that he can still drive. Plus to help me get up to the hospital again. The cost for everything from treatment to glasses is in the upper range of $10,000. let alone travel expense and the unknowns that I haven't even thought of. Your donations would be helping out a great deal. Not just my urgent need to get up there and be with him but for Jake to get the treatment he needs to regain some normalcy. I started a small business called Collectables & More. still fairly new and I only have my EIN number not the LLC yet. My income is reliant on sales, business is good but not enough to keep us from losing the apartment and Jake having his car repoed. With him not able to work and the future unknown. At least we know that with your help he can get the treatment he needs.
