Hi friends,

This is Courtney, Kelsey’s best friend.
I wanted to share her story with you all and ask for your hand in prayer through this time.

Kelsey has been a type 1 diabetic for the past 20 years. For the past few years she’s been battling with neuropathy that left her feet numb and unable to feel them. A few months ago she was diagnosed with a kidney infection that now has progressed into stage three kidney failure. A few weeks ago Kelsey developed a diabetic foot ulcer in her right foot. After a few weeks of wound care, the ulcer continued to open up causing pain and after admitting her to hospital Kelsey now has a rare bacterial infection in the wound. This treatment requires iv antibiotics. With her kidney failure it is nearly impossible to treat the foot and not damage the kidneys more. Kelsey is unable to bear weight or be on her feet which her job requires of her. She is awaiting testing of the bone to be done to determine the next steps, with the worst case being amputation of the foot. We pray it doesn’t lead to that but diabetic patients are more prone to this type of rapid progression. With being out of work Kelsey is going to need all the support she can get. Her soon to be husband is left alone with handling all the finances moving forward. He just started a new job and it is a lot to put in one person. If you feel moved or touched to donate anything it is very much appreciated. Kelsey is a strong woman of God and keeping her faith in high spirits. If you know Kelsey she would give anyone the shirt off her back and has continued to pour into many woman and their journey with knowing and accepting God. I ask you all to bow your heads and pray for her. Let’s come together and stand strong for Kelsey and her family. May God Bless

Update: the MRI shows no sign of infection in the bone so amputation is OFF the table PRAISE GOD! Unfortunately my kidney function is only reaching as high as 40 % which means the kidney disease has officially progressed to stage 3 since being diagnosed in March. I will have to go to outpatient wound care every other day until further notice and keep off my feet but I’m praying I can return to work by the 21st. What a blessing you all have been, with your donations this week of work I’ve missed and next week I’ll have to miss have been just about covered with y’all’s generosity Thank you all & praise the Lord for every visit every phone call every message and every prayer. I most definitely feel the love & I am so grateful. Love you guys & keep the prayers coming ❤️🙏

UPDATE: still waiting for MRI to determine whether the infection from diabetic foot ulcer has spread to the bone. If it has, I’m looking at 6 weeks antibiotics and if those do not kill the infection amputation is on the table. My GFR (kidney function) has dropped from 65 on Friday to 33 today. My potassium levels keep rising. I have a constant headache and fevers keep coming & going. I am extremely anemic so I’m on 3 bags of iron, of my body still won’t absorb the iron then next is a blood transfusion. I believe that my God is a great physician and healer, a way maker & a miracle worker. My faith will not falter thru this storm. I know the spot fund was originally set up for 1k, but I am asking for you all to please keep sharing the post if you’re not able to donate as I have no clue when I can return to work and I have zero PTO from going to NC a few weeks ago to care for my mom. Josh is working as much as possible to cover everything but this will be a challenge. I want to thank each and everyone of you that has donated, called, messaged. Visited, and most importantly prayed. There is strength in numbers & prayer is powerful!! I love you guys, God bless you all ❤️
