Our Mission:
To offer military veterans the opportunity to reunite with members of their unit to reconnect and bond in a single location to improve mental health and prevent veteran suicide
Our Why:
In the present day, the landscape of veteran support largely revolves around individual needs. While individual support is undeniably crucial, the power of group settings cannot be underestimated. Veterans often grapple with the challenge of sharing their service and experiences with those who have not walked the same path, who have not experienced the same trauma and trials. By establishing a sanctuary where veterans can reunite with their comrades, we can extend the healing process. This endeavor seeks to create a haven for veterans to host small unit reunions at no charge.
Our Vision:
Nestled in Baldwin County, Alabama, renowned for its temperate climate, pristine beaches, and proximity to Mobile Regional Airport, our project spans approximately 20.16 acres. Warrior Legacy Ranch will feature accommodations for up to 40 individuals. The facility is thoughtfully designed, incorporating handicap-accessible amenities, a communal living area conducive to heartfelt conversations, a spacious dining area, and a fully-equipped kitchen. The architectural layout encourages camaraderie and fosters group gatherings within the living spaces, complemented by ample outdoor areas dedicated to recreational activities and entertainment. This ranch serves as a hallowed space for veterans to share their stories, heal their wounds, reconnect with fellow warriors, and rebuild their lives.
How You Can Help:
As we embark on this transformative mission, we are actively seeking donors who share our commitment. The estimated cost of construction is $850,000.00. With the generous support of donors who have already pledged their resources for furnishing, construction, or funding, we are well on our path to opening our doors for reservations in April of 2025. We extend a heartfelt invitation to you to join us in supporting this noble cause. Warrior Legacy Ranch is 501(a) awaiting our filing for 501(c)(3).
Our Story:
In March 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic unfolded its grip on the world, a fellow Marine and I initiated a recurring Zoom call, extending an open invitation to all members of my 2004 platoon. These bi-weekly Saturday gatherings, each lasting 4-5 hours, became a cherished source of solace for many, including myself. More significantly, they ignited the spark of a reunion, culminating in a heartfelt gathering after nearly 17 years of separation. It felt as though those 17 years had evaporated, leaving behind only the added weight and a slightly slower pace. The reunion weekend proved to be a profound and poignant event, enriched by the presence of our families, who bore witness to previously untold stories despite many of us being married for over a decade. This event not only fortified our bonds as Marines but also nurtured connections among our spouses, who have since established a support group for veterans' partners across different states in the form of a group text. The only challenging part of that weekend was the AirBNB for $1500/night, in order to find a location large enough to host 35 people.
