“Helping a Woman in Long-Term Recovery Overcome an Unexpected Financial Setback”

My name is Demetria, and I am a person in long-term recovery. For me, recovery means choosing a new way of life every single day. In just a few months, I will celebrate five years in recovery, something that once felt impossible. Over these years, I have worked hard to rebuild my life, earn certifications, receive recognition for my work in recovery, and become someone others can depend on.

Recovery has taught me accountability, honesty, and perseverance. I have dedicated myself to helping others, giving back to my community, and continuing to grow both personally and professionally. I am proud of the life I have built, but today I find myself facing a difficult financial hardship that I cannot overcome alone.

In November 2025, I was involved in a car accident. Unfortunately, my operator’s insurance had lapsed that same day, leaving me personally responsible for the damages. The total amount owed is approximately $15,000.

After speaking with the insurance company, they have agreed to allow me to begin making payments if I can provide a $1,000 down payment, followed by monthly payments of $500. This arrangement would allow me to begin resolving this debt and move forward.

I am currently employed and working as many hours as I can. However, the store where I normally work closed temporarily for remodeling, forcing me to pick up shifts at other locations just to make ends meet. While I am grateful to still be working, the reduced hours and inconsistent income have caused me to fall behind financially.

As someone in recovery, I have learned that asking for help is not a sign of weakness. It is a sign of honesty and humility. I pray every day for strength, guidance, and the ability to continue moving forward. Today, I am asking for help from my community.

Your donation, no matter the amount, will help me make the required down payment, begin paying this debt responsibly, and continue rebuilding the life I have worked so hard to create. If you are unable to donate, sharing my story would mean just as much.

Thank you for believing in recovery. Thank you for believing in second chances. And thank you for helping me continue this journey one day at a time.

With gratitude,

Demetria
