Rod Herrod.
To many that name represents joy, courage, and, most of all, love. He is a man strong enough to be a husband, father, friend, grandpa, and even a great-grandpa. In February 2025, Rod faced a formidable challenge when cancer entered his life.
He bravely underwent brain surgery. Unfortunately, he has Glioblastoma, a fast-growing cancer with no cure. The doctors have given him a prognosis of 1-3 years and have developed a plan to help keep him with us as long as possible.
The initial focus is on helping him regain any motor function on his left side, and try to strengthen his right side, as he will likely be wheelchair-bound from now on. After he completes several weeks in rehab, we need to ensure his home is safe and functional or find a new, suitable living arrangement. Following this, he will undergo daily trips to the hospital for radiation therapy for six weeks. Once Rod completes radiation, the goal is to move him from Arizona to Springfield, Missouri.
We've found that his insurance provides very limited coverage for home care and medical supplies. Knowing him, he would never ask for financial assistance, but your thoughts and prayers would mean the world to him.
Relocating to Springfield will allow us all to be close, ensuring he's surrounded by family and receives the support he needs during this time. If you're able to offer any assistance to help us make his home safe and functional, it would mean the world to us.
We are grateful for all his chosen family who provide him with strength.
