There are 2 Ukrainian Easter Egg making events planned. Both will be at the home of Emilie and Douglass Parker, 315 N. Alta Vista Ave, Monrovia, CA. The first one is Saturday, March 18th at 10am till noon. The second event is Saturday, April 8th at 2pm to 4pm.
To reserve your spot in the workshop, call or text Emilie - 240-350-8533. First make your donation HERE to help Ukrainians. The minimum donation for the event is $65.00 for each person, each event. Ages 13 to adult. 100% goes to the International Committee of the Red Cross. Douglass and I are donating everything we need to make the workshop happen so 100% of your donation goes towards helping individuals in Ukraine directly and through the Ukrainian Red Cross. The International Red Cross is collaborating with the Red Cross in the key countries who are providing food, shelter, medicine and other needs for refugees.
For the workshop I’ll provide the traditional tools (Kistky) that you will use to draw wax designs on your egg. You’ll scoop some beeswax into the little well in the tool and use a candle to melt it. Then warm wax will flow through the Kistky. We’ll draw outlines with the wax and dip into brightly colored Pysanky dye baths. You’ll learn where to add more wax and dye to create beautiful traditional designs. When we are done, we carefully hold the egg near the candle flame, to warm the wax, and polish it off to reveal beautiful colors.
