Stefen Sims is a traveling electrician who came to Detroit to install solar panels and electrical work here in the Motor City. On Monday, September 15, 2025, after being dropped off by coworkers at a local bar in Taylor to watch football, he never made it back to his Airbnb near Big League Brews. He was brutally attacked without provocation by an individual—or individuals—wielding a machete.
The attack left Stefen with catastrophic injuries. Both legs were fractured with deep lacerations, as if the attackers tried to sever them. His arms, hands, and back were slashed as he fought to defend himself. The most devastating wounds were to his head and face, with cuts reaching down to his skull and exposed bone.
Stefen has already undergone multiple surgeries, including major reconstructive surgery to his face, and he faces many more procedures ahead. He will require extensive physical therapy to regain mobility and relearn how to walk. During this long and uncertain recovery, Stefen is unable to work as an electrician—his livelihood—and he will also face overwhelming medical bills.
We are asking for your support to help Stefen cover his medical expenses, rehabilitation, and living costs as he fights to recover and rebuild his life. Any contribution, large or small, will make a meaningful difference in his journey back to health and independence.
