Albert Rawlinson, our beloved UH pool attendant and crossing guard extraordinaire, has served our community with the utmost professionalism and dedication for 20+ years.
Albert’s hours typically started at 4:30 in the morning, so that the pool would be ready for the many early pool users: adult lap swimmers, the Purvis Piranha swim team and children taking swim lessons. Early morning greetings and chatter about the water were exchanged as each group got to business. The swimmers would swim and Albert ensured that the pool was ready for this group, as well as the afternoon swim. Not all pool patrons saw Albert, for he was often behind the scenes, but without his readying the deck and pool in spring and maintaining all of the nuts and bolts daily, we would not have a pool.
