Without the proper fuel and nutrition, Hawaiʻis people are not able to reach their full potential. Impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic have degraded food security, presently tipping at epidemic levels. A 2021 study, Map the Meal Gap, reported 162,200 residents face hunger; 54,700 of those are children. “Food For All” is a call to action addressing minority and low-income inequities through three goals: Raise awareness of Hawaiʻi’s food insecurity by 25% through virtual platforms, promote healthy and affordable meals using produce programs, and decrease the stigma of food insecurity through islandwide education workshops.
“Food For All” has partnered with two University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa student organizations in efforts to alleviate our food insecurity levels. A meal distribution drive is currently being planned for April 16, 2022, from 8:00 am-12:00 pm at the Kānewai Park. Meals will be prepared and distributed at the park and through mobile outreach. The success of this event greatly depends on the generous support from our community.
If you wish to support us, please consider donating! Funds will be used to purchase program needs such as food, water bottles, paper goods, project supplies, etc.
“Food For All” goes far beyond the here and now. The impact we establish today will provide families with generational security for years to come. Mahalo for being a part of our movement!
