Hello everyone! My name is Cierra Dunkins. I am A 36 year old activist who believes in making a change. Ever since I was twelve me and my mom have been shelter to shelter with my other three siblings. I use to tell my little sister that one day we wouldn't have to be homeless anymore because someone out there would bless us with a home of our own. So two years later, my mom gets a call from an organization and they told her we have got you and your children an home! I seen my mother cry in disbelief and pure joy. That day I made a promise to my siblings and I that I would pay it forward and help those in need. I'm choosing now to start my organization to finally keep my word to help those in need. People need help to get where they need to be. Proverty has no name on it but it seems to have longevity in our communities.I say the only way to make this world a better place is to bring people together on such an enormous cause, and having an non-profit organization like mine that won't let my people struggle alone. My previous background is volunteering at Dorothy Day homeless shelter where I fed the homeless while handing out bedding and hygiene products.Next I worked at woman's battered woman shelter (Violence Free MN) where I was an advocate for homeless battered woman. I also worked fundraising for TPT(Twin Cities Public Television) which I walked door to door to ensure that people donated to americas largest classroom. Then it was Take Action MN where I would canvass neighborhoods to ensure we could get support on what ever campaign by donations. Here are my following areas of focus: food, shelter, health, and education. Funding is intended for programs, hot meals, grocery vouchers, and daily essentials. My non profit H.I.H which stands for Help Is Here and will always be as long as I'm here to help. During this time of Covid-19 and almost world destruction. Who can we really count on but the help of each other. We're talking about a government that's not doing much, families who are struggling and making ends meet, and most important the children that are living condemned because of their parents situations. Ask yourself this could you look yourself in the mirror knowing that your one dollar went to candy?Instead you could of used that same dollar and donated it to make sure a child could eat, or shelter, or rent, just anything. I've seen so many people go without shelter, food, housing, advocates, and family that just doesn't care. That is not sitting well with my heart. I have started a non profit call H.I.H which stands for Help Is Here. I am fundraising to build shelters and feed families in need, help with resources, kid's leadership life coaching, parental help for academics and sports equipment, food shelves, and emotional support. With the donation money fundraised I will be able to help house the homeless and provide daily essentials, resources, etc . Please help me help the world and make a difference in people's lives. My organization will help the families of America. It's start with your change so I can provide change.
