Hello!
My name is Carly Zwiazek and I am a physical education teacher with experience in Chicago Public Schools as well as in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. I have been a teacher and a coach for the last 13 years.
I build strong relationships with kids. My students and athletes all see me as a safe person and safe space. I am a teacher that cares about her students as people and am always honored to play a pivotal role in their growth and development. I understand,through the relationships that I’ve developed through teaching and coaching, the importance of a good mentor or positive and strong adult in the lives of youth and young adults. I have seen firsthand the impact that a caring adult can have on a child or young adult. I have also experienced the many different ways in which mentoring impacts the mentors lives as well.
With my passion for education and youth development and guidance,I am working to build a non profit organization around youth and young adult mentorship, personal,social skill and leadership skill building, and life experience programs for youth between 4th grade and 12th grades.
I want to be able to give, as many kids as possible, access to a supportive and caring adult who is a positive example. I want to offer them resources and opportunities to build their social, emotional and leadership skills in order to be successful in school, in their communities and in their life. Lastly, I want the kids to be exposed to experiences and people and places outside of what they already know to help broaden their awareness and perspectives.
These programs will aid in the personal development of these students, equipping them with skills and awareness to be leaders in all areas of their life while exposing them to people and worlds they would not normally have exposure to.
The first step of this project is to incorporate the non profit in the state of MI. I am currently working with a group called the 'Foundation Group'. They are willing to help me go through the process to ensure everything is legal,compliant and started on the right foot. The cost of this service is $3500.00. We are trying to raise the funds to cover this first step.
