People are uniting to fight Verizon Wireless in federal court to ensure the SAFE and RESPONSIBLE placement of the proposed cell tower on Dog Bar Road.
This is NOT a battle against cell towers in general.
Rather, we are fighting to protect our homes and families from a tower at this specific site because it would be a mere 100 feet from 12 people (four of whom are young children) and may render their homes unsalable.
Families in three different districts in Nevada County are struggling to protect the value of their homes as well as their safety because wireless corporations are trying to erect cell towers on their doorsteps.
In 2024, our neighborhood appealed their permit and WON at the county level when our supervisors sided with us and denied a tower at this location.
Our supervisors didn't say no to a new tower on Dog Bar Rd; they simply asked them to place their tower AWAY from our homes and families.
Since we live in the country, this is a reasonable request!
Instead of doing the right thing, Verizon sued our county in federal court. Unfortunately, the county decided not to fight Verizon, but instead, offered the affected neighbors the right to unify and spearhead the fight themselves. The burden now falls to us to hire the attorneys at our expense and battle for the SAFE and RESPONSIBLE placement of this equipment.
How this case unfolds affects the ENTIRE county because Verizon alone plans to build 11 more towers here. Unfortunately, that doesn’t include other wireless companies that also plan to expand service and install equipment in our county.
If we work together, we can ensure this tower and any additional towers go in locations that HELP us, vs. HURT us.
Community members have generously donated, allowing us to hire the TOP attorneys in the country. Now we need your help to continue funding their services.
100% of every dollar donated goes to paying the legal team!
Will you help us fight this giant?
We receive monthly invoices from two different law firms, and the fees range from $3-7K per month.
Stepping up to face this giant will help ensure our homes, children, and neighborhoods are protected from corporations like Verizon that prioritize profit over people.
Every dollar counts, and the outcome of this case impacts us all!
Thank you,
Kristin
