People are uniting to fight Verizon Wireless in Federal Court to ensure the SAFE and RESPONSIBLE placement of cell towers in Nevada County, CA.
Families in three different districts in Nevada County are struggling to protect the value of their homes as well as their health and safety because wireless corporations are trying to erect cell towers on their doorsteps.
Specifically, Verizon wants to install a 13-story tower located 100 feet from 12 people! In 2024, our neighborhood appealed their permit and WON at the county level, even though our supervisors denied it and asked them to place their tower AWAY from our homes and families.
Since we live in the country county, we believe this is a reasonable request.
Instead of doing the right thing, Verizon sued our county in federal court. Because of the cost, the county decided not to fight Verizon, but instead, offered the affected neighbors the right to unify and spearhead the fight. The burden now falls to us to hire the attorneys at our expense, file the Motion to Intervene, and battle for the SAFE and RESPONSIBLE placement of this equipment.
How this case unfolds affects the ENTIRE county because Verizon plans to build 12 more towers. Unfortunately, that doesn’t include other wireless companies also planning to expand in our county. If we work together, we can ensure this tower and any additional towers go in locations that HELP us, vs. HURT us.

Our Motion to Intervene was recently submitted to the federal court, and we should hear more about this from the judge during the Nov. 10th hearing.
