My oldest daughter Kirsten was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 Lipedema at age 24. Lipedema is a progressive disease of the fat tissue that is extremely painful and will not go away with weightloss. Kirsten has this disease in her legs, hips, buttocks, abdomen, and arms. She has lost 150 pounds and this disease continues to progress, causing her a lot of pain and heaviness. The only way to help her treat this disease is through a series of 3-4 surgeries and she will have to travel out of state. Kirsten has 3 young children and has taken on an overnight job to save money for her surgeries. She does have insurance but will have to come up with $6,000 out of pocket before she can have her first surgery. She is working very hard but won't be able to save enough for her surgeries or travel costs on her own. My babygirl has worked so hard to lose weight and be healthy for my grandbabies, and this disease is making it very difficult for her to live her daily life and take care her children. I want to do everything that I can to help her be able to treat this disease, so that she can be free of pain and start enjoying her life.
