The last few weeks have been something we were not at all prepared for. I was about to start a work from home job when Jesse became very ill. The morning I was to start I had been up all night with him, I had to regrettably turn it down. His cancer spread very quickly and we lost the battle February 13, 2023. He was only 9 and never sick a day in his life, it is all so surreal. Its been 2 weeks and we still haven't wrapped our heads around any of it.
The cost initially forJesse was just over $1300 with labs and homeopathic care etc. We then realized he needed allopathic care, as his health was rapidly deteriorating. We took him to Blue Run veterinary practice, where they did a punch biospy , antibiotic and prednisone, as he was critical. He came back to us enough so we got to see Jesse once again, see him eat, bark, and be out of pain. It was a gift and gave us time to process the inevitable. I then took him to the ER before his passing when he began to worsen again, which was another $700. He was moaning all night and his breathing was extremely labored. Then there was the visit to put him to rest and his cremation. All together we had to come up with approx $3,000 in a very short time. The ER revealed the cancer in the xrays, and the punch biospsy that came back after Jesse passed, let us know the type was lymphoma.
I maxed out my credit cards, my husband maxed out his affirm account. I used care credit and scratchpay to fund the rest between the biopsy etc and the ER visit. Those payments will be do very soon. For Jesse and our babies, we would do it a million times over to help though.
In the meantime, our senior setter Ember has a severe infection on some sort of tumor on her thigh. We did a noninvasive biospy on her and labs , and she's currently on an antibiotic, as cytology showed 3 different bacterias. Unfortunately, the results are squamous cell carcinoma. We had to get her a leg sleeve and put her in the cone of shame, using a larger cone to achieve the depth needed to keep her away from it with her tongue. She is eating and happy currently. So I added another $500 to the scratch pay account for Ember. She will need surgery March 21st, it is bothering her and still infected. The only way to heal the infection completely is to remove the tumor. We are hoping to get back where we were at prior to Jesse to assure Ember gets what she will need.
Combined we estimate we reached debt of over $3,000, the bulk being Jesse's care in a mere 2 months, nothing we were prepared for. I don't want to do a go fund me, due to the fees they take out, but I'm asking if anyone would like to help donate toward Jesse's accumulated bills to please pay*pal me at jenny.bellandi@yahoo.com. ( friends and family has no fees) . Spotfund here is free, but if a credit card is used charges via the credit card company are still in place.
We are trying to get back on track knowing what Ember will need medically with this tumor. We are also still paying Jed's health issues off, as well as bills for our senior setter we lost to a heart tumor August 11, 2022. We have lost 2 setters in 6 months and praying Ember's diagnosis nets us a better outcome. Paypal donations so far have helped immensely and we would love to still reach goal of $3,000 to get us back where we were prior to Jesses illness. We have raised half so far and are so extremely thankful.

I have updated the total amount needed to pay all off. Ember's surgery was successful, but we are concerned about not getting all margins . I'll update when labs come in.
