On November 18th, while covering the war, I became seriously ill. I was rushed to the hospital and taken straight into the intensive care unit. After tests and scans, the doctors told me something I could hardly process: I have a coronary artery thrombosis, a complete blockage and I urgently need surgery abroad to survive.
A medical referral has been approved, and now I wait for a call from the World Health Organization. But my deepest fear is not only for my health… it is that I may have to travel alone. My family; the people who depend on me, and whom I love more than anything, may not be allowed to go with me.
I am the only provider for my family, and leaving them behind in these conditions is a fear that keeps me awake at night.
These are the people who are my whole world:
• My eldest daughter, 26
• My second daughter, 24
• My third daughter, 19
• My son, 15
• My wife, 50, who has stood by me through every hardship
I am fighting not only for my life, but to keep my family together.
Your support could give us a chance; a chance for me to receive the surgery I urgently and a chance for my family to stay by my side during the most frightening moment of our lives.
Your support can help us stay together during this critical time and give me a chance to receive the treatment that may save my life. Thank you for any help you can offer
