Exactly three years ago, Rebekah relocated from Huntington, New York to Maui, where she fell in love with the local culture and ocean, and soon after discovered her dream job as a private snorkel tour guide. (Rebekah is contracted with Shoreline Snorkel in Napili.) Being the cheerful and passionate person she is, Rebekah leaves a lasting impression on all the children and non-swimmers she has taken out to see the island's beautiful coral reef.
On August 8, 2023, however, Rebekah's life changed in a way that no one could have predicted. She lost her home -- and everything inside it -- to the wildfire that devastated Lahaina. Perhaps the only thing more unbelievable than what happened that day is Rebekah's ability to stay positive and grateful throughout it all. Knowing that circumstances could have been much worse, Rebekah is extremely thankful to be alive and well with her chihuahua, Lula.
We, Rebekah's family, are starting this page to help her get back on her feet during this emotionally and financially challenging time. As people flee the Maui area and tourism plummets, Rebekah admirably plans to stay and help rebuild the community she now proudly calls her home.
Please help us raise funds that Rebekah can use to pay for groceries and rent, as well as replace her wardrobe, furniture, kitchen appliances, and -- most importantly -- the dive gear that she needs to resume work. Any amount you can give is appreciated!
Thank you,
The Sorensens
