After taking state, The Rocky Mountain High School OM P3 and P4 teams are on their way to compete at the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals at Iowa State University from May 24th-28th, 2022. The two teams (coached by Deidre Sewell and Damon McCausland): qualified for the World Finals by winning state at Lincoln Middle School at the state tournament in Fort Collins, CO on April 9, 2022.
The teams have worked tirelessly for the last several months, putting in countless hours a week of their own time (even sacrificing their weekends) preparing for this moment.
Odyssey of the Mind is an international team-based creative problem-solving competition that engages students in their learning by allowing their knowledge and ideas to come to life in an exciting, productive environment. Participants build 21st Century Skills, create new friendships, and are able to recognize and explore their true potential. Problems naturally lend themselves to a STEM and Art focus also requiring a dramatic presentation. Students bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and World level. Teams from almost every state & 25 other countries participate in the program.
This fundraiser is to pay for their trip to the competition. This includes the cost to transport the team of 11 students, their created props & devices, fuel for the drive to Iowa, volunteer parent chaperones and the events package (including room and board and meals) at Iowa State University.
