Update: The veterinarian was able to resolve the blockage via enema as for today, August 17. We will continue to monitor her and hope that the worst is now behind us. We are so thankful that she did not require sedation nor invasive procedures, so we have updated our donation goal to reflect the total cost for her care. Our 1 year old kitty, Romi, has recently fallen ill due to swallowing a foreign object. On August 13, she started having multiple episodes of vomiting from 6:00am until 3:00pm. The emergency veterinarian gave her fluids and Zofran - she told us to continue monitoring her, so we brought her home. When we returned home, she vomited twice overnight, but we believed she may have been able to get the foreign object out, so according to veterinarian’s instructions, we gave her a tiny bit of food with water at 8:00am on August 14. She laid down on the couch all day after eating and then vomited again at 3:00pm. We immediately brought her back to the animal hospital for blood tests and an X-ray, showing a possible blockage in her small intestine. They gave her more fluids and anti-nausea treatment and we kept her overnight at home. The next day, our veterinarian had difficulty confirming the location of the foreign object via ultrasound, so we brought her home to continue monitoring and to administer Miralax twice daily in case she could try to pass it by herself. She is barely able to eat anything and doesn’t drink water. We have been at the animal hospital almost every day for 5 days now. We need help to cover all of the medical bills for Romi’s care.
