Anyone that knew Raquel, knew she and her mom, Maria, were best friends. They always took care of each other.
Regretfully, Raquel passed on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at 4pm from liver failure. She had been hospitalized for the last three weeks at Elhmurst Hospital. On Sunday, as she was getting ready for bed, she unexpectedly collapsed; her heart stopped. She was resuscitated and placed on a ventilator. Her mom was forced to make the decison no parent ever wants to make: let their child go, let her rest. Raquel did not suffer in her final moments. She was surrounded by family who prayed over her. We know she heard us. We saw tears on her eyes when we finished Psalm 23. She knew she was loved, safe and blessed.
This fundraising effort is to help the person Raquel loved the most, her mom, Maria. As she continues with the memory of Raquel and the grief of her absence in her heart, we wish to ease some of her financial concerns. This is what Raquel did for her. We feel it is the best way to honor her: her deep commitment to helping her community, an undying passion to lend a hand to whoever needed it. Raquel's beautiful smile, bubbly laugh, artistic talent, and love for family and friends make us who knew her feel blessed to have been touched by her. Supporting her mom would make Raquel smile.
