About Mick
Mick was a proud U.S. Marine veteran, a skilled professional dog trainer, and an avid bowler who found joy and community wherever he went. He lived his life in service—to his country, to the dogs and families he trained, to his teammates and friends at the lanes, and most of all, to his wife, Laurie.
Mick was known for his loyalty, humor, and compassion, but those closest to him know that his greatest devotion was always to Laurie. Before his passing, Mick shared his deepest wish: that Laurie would be cared for and given every chance to live the fullest life possible.
Why We’re Raising Funds
Laurie has been fighting Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS) since 2008. Despite years of treatments, her disease continues to progress. Her best hope now is an Autologous Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant (AHSCT) at the Mayo Clinic.
This procedure—using her own stem cells to “reset” her immune system—has been shown in clinical studies to halt MS progression in up to 80% of patients, and in many cases, even restore lost function. For Laurie, it represents her best chance at stopping MS in its tracks and reclaiming her independence.
But the cost is overwhelming. The transplant itself, hospitalization, aftercare, and the specialized equipment Laurie will need are estimated at $350,000–$500,000. Insurance will not cover this life-saving procedure.
Carrying Out Mick’s Wish
Mick often said: “Promise me that no matter what happens to me, Laurie will get the care she needs.”
