Hi, my name is James Fauntleroy and I just got a kidney transplant! I've been on kidney dialysis for over 17 years and I recently received my first transplant on April 12, 2025! Here's my video announcement of my transplant:
This is a massive undertaking and change for me but it improves my quality of life overall. I'm deeply grateful for this event and how it has already helped me to be better. As you may know, transplants are expensive but what is also expensive (especially for people like me on a fixed income) is the medications to keep my transplanted kidney, the medical bills associated with a major surgery, going back and forth to doctors appointments and affording copays.
I'm requesting assistance from the community so that I can be better and keep doing more for my community with my better health situation. Traveling back and forth to Tampa from Orlando can be costly to the people who are gracious enough to take me and I want to make sure they're not overextending themselves financially. Also in order to keep this kidney (which is a gift) I need to maintain the prescription medicines that help me do that.
I appreciate any help or sharing this information with others! This helps me to operate more fully in doing organizing and mutual aid work in my community as well and I can do more good for my neighbors. I hope this message finds you well and I thank you so much for taking the time to read this. Have a beautiful day!
