"Healing takes courage. And we all have courage, even if we have to dig a little to find it." Tori Amos
For over a decade, Stacy has been reaching her local community through her work with the homeless as well as through teaching in the Oklahoma City Public Schools District. Alongside these times, she has endured a lot of personal loss. From the loss of her best friend and mother to the recent loss of her father (with several losses in between), Stacy has experienced trauma. Stacy needs continued help with healing. She has found the courage to address her grief, Anxiety, PTSD, and, as a result, Substance Abuse, and has been receiving residential treatment at a facility in California that reaches her specific needs to heal. She is participating earnestly in this treatment.
Stacy already went to this facility once this summer but did not spend enough time in aftercare as was recommended initially. She is back there now and about to complete the residential program, progressing much further than she had before. She is happy to call herself a "person who does not drink alcohol" for the rest of her life and is devoted to her ongoing therapy. She is learning how to cope with what she thought were unbearable feelings through a large team of therapists, group facilitators, psychiatrists, medical doctors, and case managers.
She will be moving in with a gracious friend twenty minutes from the facility while she completes an intensive outpatient program following her residential program. She is hoping to do this for three to four weeks.
This kind of treatment not only takes courage but also financial commitment. The only out of pocket expense for her outpatient program will be her rental car, gas, and groceries; everything else is covered. The rental car is about $300/week, and gas is about $4.30/gallon. Your donations on this spotfund will go specifically to these costs.
While she and her husband Seth have already made financial sacrifices for her treatment and recovery, your generosity will help alleviate some of that burden. She would like you to know how much she hates to ask but how grateful she is of your support. Would you consider helping with Stacy's healing journey by donating today in any sum? Thank you!
