After 40 years of groundbreaking research on worms, our mentor, Josh Kaplan, is embarking on a new adventure. Those of us who learned under him want to celebrate his journey with a special event in Boston. It’s not a scientific symposium, but his spirit of discovery will surely be present as we reflect on shared moments and lessons.
On November 19th, 2026, we're planning an afternoon session at the Simches Center to highlight Josh’s impact, followed by lunch to celebrate his work and mentorship. Later, we’ll gather for dinner, sharing warmth and stories, truly honoring his legacy.
We’re suggesting $250 per person to help cover the cost of the retirement dinner for those attending. We know everyone’s circumstances are different, so please don’t feel pressured—contribute whatever feels comfortable. Any amount is appreciated, and some of us plan to give more to help ensure everyone who wants to celebrate can be there.
Our goal is to raise at least $10,000 (depending on how many people can attend) to create this memorable event. Your support will help us host a gathering filled with appreciation, laughter, and maybe even a touch of science, thanks to Josh’s influence.
