Help me ship a wheelchair and white board to these amazing students in Zambia! All additional funds will go towards their feeding program!
Elizabeth and I met through the Special Education Teacher group on Facebook a few months back. Like me, she is a special education teacher. She works in Nampundwe, Zambia at a school on the outskirts of the capitol, Lusaka. They receive little money from the government to fund the school.
In April, we were able to send Amazon Fire tablets and many other teaching supplies to her classroom! Below is a picture of Elizabeth and her students with the tablets! 
They have always been extraordinarily grateful of all our contributions.
Now comes their current need. One of her students, Ireen, 12, is in significant need of a wheelchair. Recently diagnosed with spina bifida, she has many issues affecting her ability to walk. To get around, she uses a cart until she gets to the school doors. Then, she uses her hands and arms to lift herself down and crawls through the school building. Due to this, she has many cuts on her legs that are continuously infected.
NuMotion, a company in Lexington, Ky, has donated a wheelchair!!!
Now, we need to get it to Ireen! Unfortunately, these shipping costs are very, very expensive (approximately $3,000) due to the heavy, large box and the long distance. The majority of the funds raised will go towards getting this wheelchair to Ireen.
Elizabeth also told me about a student, Regina, with significant visual deficits. Regina would benefit from a white board. I have found one to purchase ($200) and ship ($1500) to her.
Lastly, the remaining funds will go towards feeding these precious children. School is where they eat most of their food. Elizabeth was able to get them loaves of bread, biscuits, and a few meatpies (a real treat!) with our previous funds. She said her students were extremely happy to simply have a few extra pieces of bread each day.
