Rebuilding a Safe Home for a Longmont Mom & Daughter
Our Story:
Hi everyone, my name is Kay and I am reaching out to our community for help rebuilding a safe, stable life for myself and my 5-year-old daughter.
Recently, I had to make the hardest but most necessary decision of my life: fleeing a domestic violence situation to protect my daughter. Because we had to leave so suddenly to ensure our immediate safety, we left almost everything we own behind. We are starting completely from scratch.
My absolute top priority is my daughter's well-being and stability. She attends a wonderful school in the St. Vrain Valley School District here in Longmont. Keeping her enrolled there, surrounded by her friends and teachers without any disruption to her routine, is the most important thing in the world to me right now.
Our Current Situation:
I work steadily doing gig work to provide for us, and we are officially on the waitlist for a permanent, safe housing program right here in Longmont. However, that placement takes time, and we currently have nowhere to sleep.
While my daily income covers our basic needs like food and gas, I simply cannot afford the large, upfront cash required to book a month at a safe extended-stay hotel (which requires no credit check or massive security deposit) to bridge the gap while our permanent housing paperwork clears.
I am also a student--after one semester I will have my associates degree.
How You Can Help:
I am trying to raise $2,500. 100% of these funds will go directly toward paying for 30 days upfront at a local extended-stay hotel in Longmont. This fund will give us:
* A safe, locked door and a real bed for my daughter to sleep in.
* Complete geographical stability so I can get her to and from school easily every morning.
* The time I desperately need to finalize our permanent housing without the daily terror of not knowing where we will sleep.
It is incredibly humbling to ask for help, but I cannot let my pride stand in the way of my daughter’s safety. If you are able to donate, absolutely no amount is too small.
