Support Mercedes & Their Child With Housing Expenses
Mercedes (a Latinx, queer, nonbinary single parent) recently went through their second layoff in a year. After a tech company layoff last summer, Mercedes decided to leave customer service began their journey toward their dream of becoming a teacher. Not even a year later, they were laid off again while working in education. In September, Mercedes plans to start a graduate program to enable them to become a full fledged teacher.
As a single parent of a young child, one layoff was a challenge. With this second layoff so soon after the first, they haven't had time to financially recover. Between financial strain and lags in unemployment, Mercedes just needs some extra help to make ends meet.
This fundraiser is to help cover rent and vital living expenses through September for Mercedes and their child while they wait for unemployment and secure a new job. With your help, they can make it through this rough patch and continue to peruse their dream of teaching this fall.
