I am a UNC student athlete and one of the leaders of Run Your City Chapel Hill, a free running and movement program for kids in our local community. We are raising funds so that every child, regardless of ability, gender, or family income, can participate at no cost.

Who We Are

Ā

Run Your City is a nonprofit that uses running to build confidence, community, and inclusion for kids. Our Chapel Hill chapter is run by UNC student athletes and volunteers. This is our third season, and each year more than 100 children sign up. Kids tell us they want to try track or other sports for the first time, and parents share that their children have gained confidence and made new friends. Our practices focus on movement, joy, and belonging, not competition. Every child is welcomed and encouraged, whether it is their first time running or they already love sports.

Our Mission

Run Your City is committed to building an inclusive community through the sport of running. We aim to empower every child, regardless of ability, gender, or socioeconomic background, to grow into a healthy, confident, and inspired individual. Our programs are completely free and designed to remove barriers to participation. By connecting UNC student athletes with local kids and families, we are working to make our campus a hub for health, inclusion, and community engagement.

Why We Are Fundraising

To keep our Chapel Hill program free and accessible, we need help covering essential costs that our student volunteers cannot cover on their own. Donations will go directly toward:

  • Healthy snacks and water for each session
  • T shirts or small gear items so kids feel part of a team
  • Facility or field fees if needed for safe practice spaces
  • Insurance and safety related costs

Running a safe, high quality, and inclusive program for more than 100 children each season comes with real costs. Your support helps us say yes to every family with no fees and no barriers.

The Impact of Your Gift

  • $25: snacks and water for one practice
  • $50: equipment for games and drills that build confidence
  • $100: a season’s worth of supplies for a small group of kids
  • $250: helps provide shirts or gear so kids feel like a team
  • $500+: supports an entire season of programming for many children

Behind every dollar is a child who feels seen, encouraged, and included. Parents already tell us that their kids want to sign up for track, that they have made new friends, and that they are more confident being active.

How You Can Help

  • Donate any amount you can
  • Share this GoFundMe with friends, family, and community members
  • Help spread the word locally

On behalf of the kids, families, UNC student athletes, and volunteers with Run Your City Chapel Hill, thank you for helping us keep this program free, welcoming, and joyful for every child who wants to run.
